He graduated in 1779, and established himself as master mason and architect . He came to Christiania in 1786 where he took citizenship as a bricklayer master, stoneworker and plaster maker. He took over responsibility for listing of Sandar Church in Sandefjord by the dismissed prime contractor Horn in 1791 . Lind was also for designing the interiors of this church, which was inaugurated in 1792 . Hans Christian Lind was born in Denmark and was married to Suzanne Elisbeth Starlings. Together they had his son Hans Christian. In 1794 they settled in the Lower Cross Street 2 in Langestrand. Hans Christian Lind var dansk og på samme alder som Staalberg. De var kullkamerater på Kunstakademiet, og Lind, som var murmester, innvandret til Christiania i 1786, omtrent samtidig med Staalberg. Etter 1790 forsvant også han, men er gjenfunnet. Først i Sandefjord og deretter i Larvik, hvor han ble stadsbyggmester og tegnet Tollboden og Langestrand kirke 1815-18.
