Lori H. replied:
i ran through IT Band pain. It started the second weekend of October, and then i ran for another month because i wanted to run a half marathon. i finished the half marathon and could barely lift my leg. i did the foam roller, the stick, went to the chiropractor and then after all that failed, I went to the orthopedist and went for an MRI. I went to Dr. McDevitt, he was great and said that I had the most inflamed IT Band he had ever seen, and that he's been a dr. for a long time and this was quite impressive. I had to stop running. I stopped running for about 12 weeks. I cross trained and was told to strengthen my core and quads. I got reanalyzed by the chiropractor and core and quads has been my focus since then. I just went to the chiropractor Friday and he was impressed with how well my It Band looks because of my increased mileage. The stick, foam roller all help, but you need to find the "cause" of the injury. at least that is what i learned through my process.

My friend Katrina Bauer works at Massage Envy in SP. She does amazing deep tissue. She's great at figuring out where the source of the problem is coming from.

I had a very painful IT band injury last year. The only thing that helped me was to have it "grastoned" by my Chiropractor (Google graston technique). It really helped speed up my recovery. I went to Dr. DeNardo at Chiro 1 st. Lori Hanczaryk is also an expert on IT band injury. She might have some more advice.
Claudinne M. replied:
Go see Dr Michie at whole health chiro in annap, then get to Even Keel for massage. You'll be running pain free soon

Hello neighbors! I have a 9 year old who wants to join the school band this year. She wants to play the flute. Any recommendations as to where can we get a flute that...
Janet N. replied:
If loaner not available, ask your band director for names of decent student model flutes, avoiding the really low quality ones. I strongly second Rosso Music, on Rt 2 way up near Baltimore (30 min)...bought our trumpet there. Buying and later reselling prior to school music year, when need to unload, can be very cost effective..

I purchased my children's instruments at Rosso and was very happy with them. A bit of a jaunt (Brooklyn Park) but worth it. http://www.rossomusic.com
Sophia H. replied:
Talk to the band director before going anywhere. He or she might have a deal worked out with a music store. Also he or she can guide you as to what kind to get. Usually music and arts in Severna park is the go-to place. There's also Garrett park and Chuck Levins in DC.
