ISO recommendations for a dog sitter available over spring break. My active dog hates being boarded, a reliable local pet sitter would be great!

Hi Karla! We love https://www.facebook.com/1658686931085083 Doggie Jogs and t https://www.facebook.com/143823083018 hey do pet sitting. Also, our dog goes to Crate Escape in Belmont for daycare on a regular basis and they offer overnight service for their daycare customers. Fully staffed overnight, no kennels, home-like environment (the dogs snuggle on futons). Might be worth checking out!

Hi list,
We recently adopted a beagle. We've had him for 4 months and he is getting on the bed and attacking us. It is very scarey. I don't want to give up on him, but...

This dog and family are in need of some serious help. There are dog behaviorists who could evaluate the dog and make recommendations. The fact that the dog is on its third home is key here. Poor dog may be suffering from severe anxiety and acting out, may have a medical problem, may not be getting enough exercise, may not have any structure or training - the possible reasons are endless. My rescue dog was horrible when she arrived and needed lots of work to make her the best dog in the world. She was neglected and abused. With love, attention, training, and consistency, she became the best dog ever. Please post this to the ADOG (Arlington Dog Owners Group) list for recommendations. They will have tons of ideas.
Melissa B. replied:
Canine Techniques in NH helped us tremendously with a similar situation. She took the dog for a week for training and then worked with us after.
Jennifer T. replied:
Vera Wilkinson of the Cooperative Dog (CooperativeDog.com) is amazing. She is a trainer and behavior consultant and works with lots of challenging dogs. Good luck!
Sonia H. replied:
Looks like a number of people have crates to offer so that's good. We also have a dog who was subject to neglect and she was quite broken when we got her. We have worked with her and also she saw Alana Meserve from Zen Dog who we really liked. Good constructive ideas and very practical, do-able things. Our dog is so so much better now 2 years later. Keep trying - it will be worth it!
Janice Z. replied:
We have a wonderful behaviorist we've consulted, Adria Karlsson of Dog Willing. Good luck.
Susan R. replied:
By "attack," do you mean jumping on or biting and/or clawing? And you say it happens only in the bed? This could be a lot of things, including neurological. But, yes, he immediately needs to be confined and not allowed in the bedroom. I suggest an evaluation at Tufts Animal Behavior Clinic.
Robert M. replied:
I have a barely-used crate for your dog. Call me at 781-646-3004 if you want it.

Upon recommendation by dear friends, we've been using Under My Wing in Belmont: http://undermywingbelmont.com/ They have caretakers who live in Arlington and surrounding towns, and we were so grateful for the kindness and compassion they showed our 19-year-old cat when we were away for a few days a couple of years ago. Now, they'll be coming by twice a day to feed, play with, clean litter box, etc. for our three 1-year-old cats during an upcoming vacation. They will take in mail, turn lights on/off, etc., too. Highly recommend!
