We are looking into a new HVAC system soon. Was wondering if anyone in the Cape or this general area has a heat pump without a secondary fuel source.

We have a heat pump as we are total electric house. Overall we never had an issue with heating. However about 5 yrs ago we put in a RSF fireplace we have the Opel 2. http://www.icc-rsf.com/en/rsf-woodburning-fireplaces We heat with wood vs using our heat pump for heating. I have found the fireplace keeps our house even temp and warmer than the heart pump ever has. We load before bed and start it again in the morning when we get up. We load all day or until it is too warm. In the late fall and early spring we usually only have to burn in the morning and that keeps the house at good temp. It is vented in our air ducts so that we can heat the entire house. We did this to save $$ on our heating bill. We at the highest bill in the summer pay about $250 when running ac 24/7 however winter we average about 160-175 for our BG&E bill.

Heat Pumps are efficient source of heat down to about 35 degrees, once the electric heat strips are activated, aux, back-up or emergency, whatever you want to call them, the efficiency is completely gone. In cold weather below 35 degrees, oil is most efficient,$ per BTU. Heat Pump with Oil Furnace as aux, back-up or emerg is best of both worlds. We had our entire system, Trane Heat Pump and Oil Furnace, replaced 2 years ago just under $8K by Bair Necessities https://www.facebook.com/BAIRNecessities. Had several bids from $6K-$14K. We also got $1500 in Rebates between BGE and Manufacture and State, don't know if all are still avail.

Kim Walker Lucado we used http://www.sinesandsons.com/ They were great 5 years ago. Then I just used Michael Trask to fix small problem I've had in 5 years!
