Hello R/Phoenix, I am moving to the area and looking for advice! Hello!
I am sorry if I step over any guidelines, I know not to post about looking for housing, but I do...
adoptagreyhound replied:
Lots of scammers here on Craigslist when it comes to rentals. Best to avoid. There have been news stories here of people who were duped out of deposits and first/last month's rent by people who rented them a house online that wasn't theirs to rent. The rental market here is pretty much on fire and places rent as fast as they are listed.

Don't have a recommendation for a website, but I do have one for a complex. I lived in San Carlos apartments for 2 years and I still would if I hadn't moved out of state. That place is great, clean and the staff is really friendly! The rent was really reasonable for the area too. It's in North Scottsdale near a lot of shopping and dining.
ninaolivia91 replied:
Same boat. I used apartmentguide.com and apartments.com
duneseek replied:
You could ask your company for recommendations, mine provided a list!

Two good friends of mine are realtors in Phoenix. One of them helped my wife and me find our current house. If you PM me, I will give you their contact info. Edit: why the downvotes? Did I break a rule of the sub? I thought this was the kind of thing OP was asking about.

We have some resources listed in our wiki you may want to check out.
JudgeWhoOverrules replied:
Hotpads, don't be afraid to live far from your work, commutes are super nice out here.
alexh934 replied:
I didn't actually find my apartment on it, but a lot of my friends have had good luck on Zillow.
random_noise replied:
Add Padmapper and Hotpads to your search list, as those sites tend to aggregate from others. Trulia lists rentals as well. Finding a place remotely, here, is difficult. 30% of our properties across the metro area are near year round empty investment properties owned by out of state and out of country investors, who flip them when the market is good. I've seen places in my area of Scottsdale flip upwards of a dozen times in the past few years, yet no one occupies them. Also, realize its semi messed up finding a place to live. As country Maricopa has the highest population growth in the country. This phoenix metro area nets 220+ people a day, and has been the highest growth rate city in the US for many decades, periodically we drop to number 2, but that has not happened for at least a decade. Las Vegas is second iirc. This also depends on how you count, look at percentages and you're are doing it wrong on a scale like the metro area compared to a town of 20k people or 100k people. We tend to get hit extremely hard during economic crashes and its always a great time to move or buy because of those out of state real estate investors cutting their losses and running. If you can't move fast in a desirable area like Scottsdale and have to wait a week, that deal is likely gone unless its a larger managed apartment complex with 50 or more units. That is one of the most desirable areas to live in Phoenix. Standalone places that tend to sit on the market for a long time likely have problems, really bad management, or absolutely insane lease clauses.
Friends, in the coming months please let me know if you hear of any private rentals in the Kinnelon area... In dire need of a change and would prefer to save on realtor...
Arda I. replied:
YAY for having a dog!!! Don't rule out looking at realtor listings Lisa, sometimes the property owner will cover that. Believe it or not, check craigslist..as well as rent.com, apartmentguide.com. How far outside Kinnelon are you willing to go?
ISO: A real estate agent that serves the Tabernacle area.
Thank you!
