Hotels in Asheville, NC

If you want something for cheap check out the Mountaineer Inn on Tunnel Rd. It's not nice but it's $40 a night, so you get what you pay for.

Crowne Plaza is super close (yet not walkable) to downtown and have rooms for less than $300 a night. Not sure if sketchy or not, but I know its not in a major busy area like Tunnel/Smoky Park/Biltmore Ave (which are the usual mile or two out of downtown zones). If you have more than double occupancy, some places may start tacking on extra person charges. There's a Days inn at Reynolds Mtn near Woodfin thats 10 minutes from downtown.

Check the Holiday Inn on Smokey Park Hwy. It's only about 10 minutes from downtown, but far enough outside the main part of the city that it's likely not that dreadfully expensive. The Red Roof in West Asheville shouldn't be super expensive. My parents like to stay there, even though it's a little sketchy, because it's always hella cheap.

Waynesville Inn. It's a relatively affordable (starts at $99 for AAA) golf resort in Waynesville with great views and about 20-30 minute from Asheville.

My favorite hotel in western NC is the Hilton Biltmore Park. The rooms are spacious, clean, and beds are comfortable. The shower has good water pressure, which is very important to me. I always do a thorough inspection of the room as soon as I check in, and this hotel has never disappointed me. The breakfast in the mornings is the best I've had in that area. Delicious breakfast. The downside is that there's no executive lounge. Huge bummer for a Hilton brand hotel. But overall, the hotel is great. Nearby you also have a lot of shops, restaurants, a YMCA, and a movie theater all within walking distance. It definitely helps me relax after a long day at work. I always try to stay there whenever I'm in town.

I work in a local hotel. It's 20 mins from Asheville. It's quiet, comfortable, and has a hot breakfast included with your stay. Pm me for location details.

Shit Indigo isn't that expensive. like 140 a night.

I would get the $300/night room. Totally worth it. You should eat at Plant too.

Definitely check out the hotels on Brevard Road (or Rocky Ridge Road, a side street) or Smokey Park Highway (or Crowell Road, a side street) in the 28806 zip code. Both of those roads intersect with I-26 and I-40 respectively so you're maybe 10 minutes from downtown at the most and they'll be much cheaper. I've had family stay at the Comfort Suites, Holiday Inn and Red Roof and all had good experiences.

You really shouldn't need to stay that far out of town. Tunnel Rd. and Biltmore Ave. both have a number of hotels that are within about 3-5 miles of downtown.

Asheville local chiming in here! Cheap groceries (scratch and dent stores)- Hopey's is basically an organic hippie scratch & dent. They get a lot of their products from Whole Foods but it costs very little. Dickie's is a *hilarious* scratch & dent. For pre-packaged food it's good, and you can play fun games there like who can find the most expired food or find the weirdest thing. Good restaurants that won't break the bank: Blue Dream Curry (living wage certified, too!), King Daddy's Chicken & Waffles, Homegrown, 12 Bones BBQ (Obama's favorite restaurant in the area), Moe's BBQ, 9 Mile, Mamacitas, Taqueria Munoz, Early Girl Best 'foodie picks' (chefs that are doing REALLY special things, not necessarily all expensive): Curate, Smoky Park Supper Club, Rhubarb, Buxton Hall BBQ, All Soul's Pizza Best coffee shops: OWL Bakery (BEST pastries in town (maybe anywhere. Seriously. Eat their damned pastries), incredible coffee program, also do small plates as well as aperitivo hour on Thurs & Fri. High 5 has great coffee and also has OWL's pastries. Places that are celiac-safe: Posana (100% gf), Creperie & Cafe of Weaverville (100% gf), Blue Dream Curry, Addissae (except for one desert item it is all gf), Bouchon Creperie, Dobra West (100% gf), King Daddy's Chicken & Waffles, Nectar (vegan and raw, 100% gf), Cantina, Corner Kitchen. We also have 2 cideries, Noble Cider (one of the owners is a dancer!) and Urban Orchard.

Are you taking classes? I don't know if I would plan to eat out much if I was taking classes. Earth Fare (grocery) is FANTASTIC and they have a great salad bar. You will also have a mini fridge and there is a microwave (somewhere) for use. For mornings and quick snacks: granola bars, instant oatmeal (pour hot water into the packet and eat right out of it) and fruit you really like. You will probably plan to be going out a couple of times to explore Asheville downtown if you have a car or know someone who does. There is also a decent restaurant at the hotel and if you decide to dance until the sun rises and be part of the breakfast club, they have a breakfast buffet (I suggest doing this once and be proud that you made it the whole night).
