Neil Brown the clean out is for clearing a clog instead of having to dig up the pipe. You still have to remove the lid and put like a 4 inch line in the tank and pump about 500 gallons out. Inthought you also replace it with water and chemicals to help breakdown the waste. I use septic bacteria every month. And very very little bleach goes down my sink. It kills good bacteria that breaks down the waste.
