You might want to join www.angieslist.com where people post reviews. It's reliable because people pay to join (it's inexpensive), and the vendors get a chance to respond to each review. Also check with the Better Business Bureau and your state licensing boards.

Angies List is nice for those that are a little to unknowing of the construction industry games, I'm sure there are nice people on it, but anything you have to pay for to know about is a little shady and it doenst always hit small towns . If you lived in new york city or LA it helps to weed through the 30 pages of contractors, other than that I'm skeptical
