Looking for a good neurologist in the Athens Area. Any suggestions. My back and leg have been giving me fits here lately.
Julie F. replied:
Dr Kimberly Walpert did my back surgery and I loved her. Yes, she is all business, but she is an awesome surgeon.
Traci M. replied:
706-353-0606. Barnes & Walpert are both really good neurosurgeons

Dr Walpert is the best.

Kimberly L. replied:
I recommend Dr. John Cuff. He has been my Dr. Since I had a serious back injury in the early 90's. He is conservative and not quick to operate! So sorry you are suffering. You are in my thoughts and prayers for relief! Love to all!
Debbi B. replied:
Dr. Novey
Sandra K. replied:
Only thing about Dr. Cuff is he is close to retirement.
Angela S. replied:
What about a chiropractor? I go to one for my back Dr. Strohman in Commerce at Bulldog Chiropractic & he's really helped me with my back. I would try a Chiropractor first because a Neurologist usually will want to do surgery. I wanted surgery to be my last resort & give a Chiropractor a chance to see if that would help. If your interested I can give you his number. I go every Monday for an adjustment & it's really made a difference!!
Grrrr! Kaiser insurance better pay really good, since they like to do everything internally. The ER's Neurologist referral is worthless b/c that Dr. doesn't take Kaiser...
Jennifer O. replied:
Thank you! That is good to know, but I wonder why they always send him to Gwinnett and/or Northside Hospital, since Athens is closer?!?!
Jennifer O. replied:
I am glad y'all haven't experienced a problem with them Matt Shaw. I know many others who have have though. It is ok if you're just going to the Dr. or hospital, but if you experience problems, it isn't as easy as most. Example: I have Cigna, I call, make an appointment, go to Dr. office, but if I need to ask a question, I am free to do so w/out a middle man or three, like Kaiser. When Cody got sick after his gallbladder was removed (b/c that didn't fix his problem) I had to call the main number, they left a message for the office, we had to wait on them to call back. Way too many added steps everytime he has something non routine. Just let us call the office on our own! Don't even get me started on when he wrecked his work van and ended uo at Grady. I almost went balistic in them to get his previous Dr. to respond.
