IKEA cabinets look good and are cheap, but if they get wet at all, like if you spill something inside, or it is under the sink they will be ruined, because they are made of particle board.

http://dutchmanfurniture.com/ Elmer van der Klei has done cabinetry work in my house and his skill level, professionalism, and quality of work are top-notch. He can also build custom furniture. He uses top quality hardware and is relentless and exacting in the quality of work and fit/finish of the components. I can't say enough good things about his work. You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least consult with him.

If you're just looking for paint color suggestions, check with local independent paint merchants. Most will over some sort of in home consulting for a fee. http://www.armisteadpaints.com/in-home-color-consulting/in-home-color-consulting/sb.cn I buy a lot of paint from there but have not ever used their design service, but it's a quality shop. Furthermore, you can walk into almost any paint place and see hundreds of books and magazines with different paint colors. Then just get some small paint sample, paint them on your wall and see what you think.

I was surprised at how difficult this was. I went in thinking I wanted one thing and ended up with another. I have medium dark floors, white/white satin cabinets and dark almost black counter tops and, I like it a lot. The alternating seems to work well. floors - dark cabinets - light counters - dark Putting dark cabinets on dark floor looks heavy and the light counter tops did not do enough to offset this.
