I'm returning to the area which was where I grew up for a six week holiday from Australia. Can you recommend any good restaurants? I like Granny Mays, Black Forest Inn...

Check out: COUNTRY BARS, BANDS, AND FANS... Live Music on Facebook. Mostly around the Hamilton area though. If he likes jamming call Brown Dog Cafe on Dundas Street in Cambridge for their next venue, on Friday nights. They also jam at the Galt Legion, but it may be suspended for the summer, mostly bluegrass. But......... if he is 26 he will love the Stampede Ranch and Stampede Corral, one in Guelph, the other in Kitchener, not far to travel from Preston. And there will be lots of cowgirls.

Haven't had a good experience at Stillwaters in Paris, but The Fork in Paris is excellent, as is the cedar house

Cafe Troy in Troy - just south of Cambridge on Hwy. 5. Beautiful grounds, beautiful restaurant, very good staff and delicious food. Somewhat upscale although worth every penny. Has a pottery shop attached so a good place to spend time. Cambridge has so many restaurants since you have been here I am sure you will have no problem getting well fed.

Pioneer BBQ is still there, going strong. There are some really nice restaurants in St. Jacobs, if you're looking for good Mennonite or just locally grown cuisine. (Stone Crock, Benjamin's etc.)

St. Petersburg Hotel, take the 7/8 west highway to the village of St. Petersburg. Excellent pig tail dinners, the Concordia Club in Kitchener also serves dinner German stype, check their website for hours. The Black Forest is still open in Conestogo, pig tails were on the menu the last time I was there, but not schnitzel. And don't forget Crossroads going into Elmira, buffet there.
