Looking for advice on suitable towing 4x4s, just sold my car and planning to take trailer test next year so I can get out and about!
Sandy B. replied:
I tow with Kia Sorento. Great but make sure that when you buy one that it has no problems with its fuel system. Mine got real problems 4 months after purchase. Kia Uk as a goodwill gesture via NMG paid for whole system from fuel tank thru to fuel injectors to be replaced. My Sorento had only done 55 k miles and was 3 years out of warranty being a 2006 55 plate. For more info on the Sorento fuel tank issues go onto the Kia owners website which is where we got all our info from. I was lucky in that Kia UK paid well over £6000 for my Kia 's repairs.

Any suggestions on an older 4x4 that has a towing weight of at least 2000kg and must be cheap to insure? Written my car off so now my insurance has gone sky high
Ruth K. replied:
Older Discovery is super to tow and very comfortable to drive, not sure about insurance tho as you've written one off. Also good tower was Daihatsu Rocky but not many around now

Hi guys - In need of some advice.
I'm looking to buy a new truck for towing. Looking to spend no more than £4k
Ideally would like a short wheel base, and obviously...

Hi Briony Gilks. Hope your good Do Not buy. Freelander they are notorious for breaking down and I can vouch for this! They will tow the ifor and 1 horse you will be over weight with 2 I was told that by Landrover so don't be fobbed off. We had a real old pajero which was brill but as you say thirsty. We have a jeep grand Cherokee now which is brilliant and they do a short wheel base, but check towing capacity you'll pick one up cheap enough. You'll get a cheap Disco but they're shit, basically Land Rovers are shit unless you get the Defender! I hear Kia Sorentos are excellent but you be lucky to get one for 4k. That's prob told you what not to get rather than what to get but hope it helps a bit:)
Lizzie M. replied:
Hi Briony, I'm in the same situation as you! My Pajero is fab but I'm fed up with expense of running 2 cars so am looking for one that does both.... Nissan Xtrail has been recommended as has early (no later that 2006) Kia. Incidentally my Paj is import & v cheap with RAC & Tesco. Good luck in your hunt: )

Can anyone recommend really good 4x4 towing vehicles? Cheap to maintain and repair, decent on fuel, the best value for money really? Thank you
Stuart J. replied:
Isuzu Trooper - personally rate them above all others for towing. They have the back axle closest to the tow hitch and the right suspension set up. Makes them slightly firmer. They match the land cruiser Amazon, and in some countries they are the only two that are allowed to tow up to 4.5 Tonnes.
