Danae Johnson yikes!! Thanks so much for sharing that. I'd be PO'd ;) shoes it is while we still have time to re-acclimate then we will do some boot experimenting. Question: What if you lose a shoe/boot etc on a ride with mandated protection? Do you get DQd?!
Terry A. replied:
You don't have enough time to really try anything else. Just put a set of steels on and go. I use www.eponashoes.com but steels will be fine on this ride. Personally I think a good horse with hard hooves would get by on this ride barefoot no problem but that's not my call it's the vet.
Below are a few questions I’ve been wondering or looking for. I am looking for recommendations! Where can I buy cost effective things? I will most likely order things...

I've been using Scoot Boots for about nine months now - fronts and rears on my OTTB - and I really like them. EASY to put on/take off. Drain well. Stay on in mud, water, deep sand. Flexible enough that I don't need to do any trim touch ups in between farrier appointments (which are every 4 weeks).

Cavallo Treks are pretty forgiving from trim to trim. Easy on/off, durable, stay on in water/mud/brush/etc. That said, I do plan to try Scoots some time soon!

I have over 900 miles on Scoot Boots, after using Easycare Boots for 10 years. If you don't want to mess with cables, that eliminates Renegades and some of the Easycare boot models. I would recommend the Scoots as the simplest, slimmest and excellent performance hoof boot. Here are some videos I've made of the boots if you're interested. So I have to rave about easy boots. I bought some for my mare who just kept wearing her feet to short but had a tendency to kick so shoes were not plausible. I ordered...
