Debbie D. replied:
Ask her to send you to the Chronic Pain Clinic at Kaiser. That is one of the first steps toward surgery. I had to jump thru all the hoops too. And it took long time. And ask for a different doctor if you are dissatisfied. Let her know that you need more that she is offering and you want a second opinion. I had to threaten a couple of docs, nicely, before I was referred to neurology, who then sent me to spine reconstruction and the wonderful Dr. Matthews. You must be an advocate for yourself.
Tara E. replied:

Thank You for your recommendations... I see the choices are between Annie Hasslinger or Dr. Weaver...since Richelle Ann Ratliff isn't accepting new clients at the moment...

Have they seen their vet? Sorry to be negative, but I've known many dachshunds that have been paralyzed if you leave a back injury too long:( I had to take mine in for back surgery after a month where pain meds, etc. were not working... We were lucky t o get surgery in time I found out later... That makes me nervous that one back leg isn't working correctly:( There is an animal neurologist, Dr. Kortz who did the surgery, truly an amazing guy, 916-362-3111... He used to be off of Atlantic Street exit but may have moved to sacramento...
