Mark Cathro from Duncan Coterill was great for us! He is also an occasional investor I think.
Chris R. replied:
Rick is excellent. Whomever you get, ensure they are experienced in your project domain (i.e. start ups) - not just the consultant - the girl or guy writing the contract too. We have spent many thousands on lawyers getting up to speed. And if your on a real budget - templates - http://simmondsstewart.com/templates/

Matt D. replied:
I'd highly recommend engaging a lawyer for a shareholders agreement rather than using a template. This is way to important a document to use a template. Try Nick Kovacevich at Wynn Williams.

Lucy L. replied:
Thanks David Booth. Hi Harriet Geoghegan, it sounds like you have a shareholder agreement already? Depending on what it looks like, a review of a shareholder agreement (to see that it works for your start-up) can cost much less than $2 k. If you're interested in what a standard shareholders' agreement looks like, my firm open sources legal templates for start-ups to use for free. Good way to inform yourself on what's generally required http://simmondsstewart.com/templates/ Agree with Brett Roberts that a shareholders' agreement is really important.
Simon C. replied:
Sacha Judd at Buddle Findlay deals with Many many startups here in Auckland. Professional and understands. Have used multiple times.
Warren W. replied:
Steven Jiang, we should get the template and I will ask what price these guys can do it!
Warren W. replied:
Lucy SJ Luo, we are trying to create a simple legal doc, that details how the shares are split among the co founders. It will also have a brief vesting statement stating that that the original share agreement can be changed in case if one of the co founders leave the venture. What would you recommend? Cheers

Here is another article well worth reading: https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/wills I will add, my sister's late partner had written his own will. He had been a college teacher, and also a Service Station Manager amongst other things, so knew how to do paperwork. Only thing was, he THOUGHT he had the will 'right' only for the family to find after he died very unexpectedly, that it wasn't worth the paper it was written on, so his wishes weren't followed.
