I tuned and repaired pianos for 23 yrs in my own business. A car accident gave me pinched nerves so I can't tune anymore. I would suggest you ask the tuner if they tune by ear or use a machine. You only want one that tunes by ear!!! If the piano is for a child taking lessons, sings or plays with another instrument, you MUST have the piano at concert pitch (A440). If a tuner comes in and says they have perfect pitch and does not use a tuning fork, ask them to leave. Out of 440 per second you can not tell if 5, 10 or 50 either way sharp or flat are missing. Don't let them fool you!!! Art Jones (as in the post above) is a registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild. I was too.
