Advice from Austin, TX brides? Or Brides-to-be? Hey Weddit! So I'm in a bit of a bind. I live across the country but am planning my wedding for July 2016 in Austin. I...

Yay another Austin bride! Feel free to PM me if you have other questions, but I'll answer yours here. Get ready for a novel! Where are you getting married if you don't mind me asking?
To be completely honest, I haven't had my makeup and hair trials yet, but I got my hair/makeup people based on recs from people I trust. If my trials in 2 weeks are terrible, I'll post back here and take back everything I said :)
My hair stylist is Delaney Harper. She used to work with my current stylist and just does event stuff now. Her rates are very reasonable, I think $75 each for the trial and the day of. PM me if you want her number.
My makeup artist is [Amber Hill](https://www.facebook.com/Make-Your-Mark-Makeup-by-Amber-Hill-244566215728433/), and she came on recommendation from my photographer. I love her natural looks, and I got some great references from some past clients of hers.
My photographer also recommended [All Dolled Up](http://www.alldolledupatx.com) which are a hair and makeup team. They do airbrush and are a little more expensive than ^. Just from looking at their instagram, I like their work but it's a little bit more glam than I prefer (but which totally may be your style), which is why I went with Amber over them.
As far as cakes go, I have a different experience than most since I'm gluten free, so I couldn't try a lot of different places. Sugar Mama's is very good, but I found their tasting process to be annoying as shit. You go in and try the flavors you're interested in (different every day), and then you make an appointment to go over the wedding cake. Their gluten free cupcakes are really popular and whenever I would stop in, they would be sold out. I asked if they could set one aside for me but they said no, which turned me off to them (but they're still really tasty). Whole Foods has a white cake called Berry Chantilly which is FANTASTIC, but their catering department doesn't do gluten free. In the end we went with [Coco Paloma](http://cocopalomadesserts.com/) who does amazing cakes and wins all sorts of awards. Her gluten free flavors were great, and I'm told the regular ones are delicious as well. We're also having ice cream cookie sandwiches by [Moojo's](http://www.moojo.net/) so people can choose what they want for dessert, and they have been great working with us and our budget. [Simon Lee Bakery](http://www.simonleebakery.com/) is probably the top dog in town when it comes to wedding cakes and they are delicious but pricey.

Can you give some context on why you selected this city without a tie to it? Ill be in Austin TX for my bachelorette weekend (April 1-3) and can help at least fill you in on what's hot, where we went (hot hotels in the area), but based on your timeline, Im not sure my visit is very far in advance of your wedding. You also should try cross-posting in the Austin sub-reddit.. im sure theyll help!
