Daniel Contreras coolant is constantly flowing through the heater core when your engine is running. Did you think there was some motor or something that pumped coolant already flowing through your engine over to your heater core or something? lol.

I work for an HVAC distributor - the best advice I can give you, is get multiple quotes. The more the better. I can tell you anywhere from $5 k to $12 k is a reasonable price, depending on size and SEER rating. Once you have a wide range of quotes, it'll be easier to narrow down your final choice based on reviews/recommendations etc. Usually the smaller companies are the ones that will give you the best price, but with the caveat that they *may* not always do the best work. That being said, I sell to many one or two man operations that do fantastic installs. Don't rush into anything. Unfortunately, I'm on the East coast, otherwise I'd be happy to give recommendations.

I'd advise against going through any big box store. You're essentially paying a middle man to call a contractor for you. Look up local HVAC contractors in your area and call them directly. Quotes are either free, or if you have to pay for a quote that company is likely not worth your time. Residential HVAC install is my day job.

You have all given me great advice. I'm compiling a list of questions I am going to ask every company coming to my house tomorrow (I have 3 appointments lined up). Those of you in the know, /u/Scottvdken /u/MitchsLoveSmilyFaces /u/burrowed_username, **what should I include in my battery of questions?**

I'd suggest a subreddit on the geographical area, but you can also look up Lennox's website and see who they have as certified installers. https://www.lennox.com/locate
