There are a few schemes that run in the Brisbane area. Excellence In Care are pretty awesome actually. My advice would be to speak with a few educators before deciding which one has the set up that suits your family lifestyle/culture. After school pick ups are not done by everyone so ensure that is an option when you go to visit your educators. There is a Facebook page called something like Family Day Care Vacancies Brisbane which may help.

Sth East QLD is a big area maybe be a little more specific. I do know someone who has just set up a brand new one and a friend of a friend who runs one. Susan Hollingworth and Amanda Harding

The best advice is to go to www.careforkids.com.au and do a search for family day care in whatever suburbs you want. There you will see if there's vacancies, contact details and also how much fees are. Make sure you visit a few carers before you make your decision. I am an educator in the suburb of Darra and have had kids from Capalaba, Milton, Ipswich and one from Sunshine Coast. Good luck!
Jeannelle M. replied:
Go look at www.careforkids.com.au most educators are listed and also FDC Schemes

We used the Pine Rivers a Family Day Care Scheme until my daughter started school for full time care. Great service and we were lucky enough to find a wonderful educator who could look after our daughter until she started school.
Shannon S. replied:
I used Griffith University Family Day care for both of my daughters. Took me a while to find a carer I was happy with but ended up with a great lady. Most areas run schemes so if you Google for your specific area you should find an organisation. They'r e a lot stricter these days in who operates a family day care & I'm pretty sure all care providers now have to have some form of early childhood education qualification. If you ask at the school your older daughter goes to they should be able to provide you with a list of all companies that pick up from the school for before/after school care.

I suggest you ring up Centerlink (our welfare system here in Australia) and ask them if you are going to be eligible to claim any refunds or rebates for using child care here before you make any booking for your children. If you are not an Australian citizen yet or you do not have a work visa here then you might not be eligible for these refunds and rebates. You need to find out all the applicable information for your situation from Centerlink staff. Some child care centres are expensive. I am not trying to be rude, just making you aware and trying to be helpful. Here is their web site http://www.humanservices.gov.au/ and phone number = 136 150 customer service phone lines are open Monday - Fridays 8 am - 8 pm. Wishing you good luck smile emoticon heart emoticon

Can anyone recommend a good family daycare near Northgate?
If you know of anyone let us know!
North G. replied:
Have you looked at something like www.careforkids.com.au? They list different types of childcare in different areas. I am sure there is also a number you can call for family daycare where they let you know what is available in your area, but I cant remember the number. Perhaps check the yellow pages?
