The only way to find out is to come for a free trial lesson at Duke Language School. The ED visa can also be arranged. Here's a review of the school on womenlearnthai >>> http://womenlearnthai.com/index.php/thai-language-school-review-duke-thai-language-school/

Anywhere but Language Express. They have good teachers but the visa services are horrible. I paid about 40,000 Baht for a year visa ended up only getting three months. They don't care about customers at all. Be careful...

I would definitely recommend Duke Language School. I'm happily studying there myself. They are teaching in a very engaging and visual way. Pretty different than other ordinary thai schools. http://dukelanguage.com/
Hi guys. Any suggestions for a good Thai language school with honest rates? I don't need ED visa, just would like to study and learn. Thank you all in advance.

Hello everyone. Can anyone suggest me a good Thai language school? I prefer it to be close to BTS line. My office is close to BTS Ratchatewi. Any suggestions?? Thanks ;)

Language Express right next to Phloen Chit. Good course structure and materials, good teachers, good emphasis on reading and writing as well as speaking. http://www.languageexpress.co.th

About couple years ago there was a crack down on the private thai language schools which were selling ED visas rather than actually "teaching thai". The hours per year went from 200 to 400, and they made it where you couldn't extend an ED visa longer than a calendar year inside the country. They also implemented periodic testing at the Ministry of Education and random spot testing out at the Thai Immigration office at Chaengwattana in Bangkok. FWIW: the immigration office began "punishing" students enrolled at known "visa mill schools".. No matter how good your attendance was, how well your thai was, people from those schools were getting 30 days extensions NOT 90 days. Even now, most schools's students get only 60 day extensions. It is totally up to the immigration officer because the rule is written as "extensions shall be granted for NOT MORE than 90 days at a time". This lets them give you what ever extension they want to. I believe the days of "paying for an ed visa" at a school then not studying thai are fast comin' to a close.:/ I wrote an article about the crack down and the change in hours per year, but I can't find it right now.. If I do I'll post it.. BTW: Tod Daniels is NOT affiliated with ANY language school >:( . I'm all about learning thai.;) .

One thing to consider is how close the school is to good mass transport. While I had an excellent trainer at a good school, it took nearly an hour to get there. It does not take long for that to get very old. ...I can't remember the names, but there are several close to the BTS that have good reputations. A little research should turn up their names. . UPDATE: I just looked at Richard Arthur's post. I think Pro Language is one of the schools I had in mind when I wrote my post. If so, it has a very good rep. And I was impressed after visiting it when a student referred me to it when I was considering changing schools.
