Those are the best fruits and vegetables in Barcelona. Go in the markets and ask old ladies. They know the best shops. This is how I found my best stops for veggies, meat and nuts. They buy for years and know where is the true quality, not only the marketable low quality food that they sell as "organic" but has no taste. http://www.mercatdelninot.com/blogs/fruites-i-verdures-macia
Lorna L. replied:
I often find people arguing against organics who don't actually know what GMO is. So, for the record: What is GMO? A GMO, or genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified using recombinant DNA methods (also called gene splicing), gene modification or transgenic technology. This relatively new science creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. NOTE: “using recombinant DNA methods…that do not occur in nature through traditional crossbreeding methods” https://www.nongmoproject.org/gmo-facts/what-is-gmo/
Their focus is on proximity but many of their producers are organic; https://www.masobert.com/productos/cistelles-de-productes-de-proximitat/cistelles-de-fruita-i-verdura.html

Online store to buy Asian food in Madrid? Like the question says – I was hoping to do some general food shopping for some asian products (dumplings, Chinese buns, etc....
LeMaigols replied:
Not really answering what you asked because I've no clue about any Asian supermarket that does deliveries. But if you change your mind on not going out to get your groceries, go [here](https://maps.app.goo.gl/UDXqTvjgpdUGdNwF7). You'll be surprised at the ridiculous amount of Asian stuff never seen anywhere else that you can buy, apart from the usual (dumplings, noddles and so on).

https://www.orientalmarket.es It is the online store for some of the Chinese stores in Tetuan (at General Margallo). I have never tried the online store, but visited their physical place a few times.
I feel like there's probably a FAQ out there somewhere that could point me in the right direction but- a couple of questions:
1. Where to buy ice?
2. Is there a Target...
Daniel B. replied:
1. Ice as in ice cubes to cool your drink? Literally any big supermarket and almost all local convenience stores. 2. Other than El Corte Ingles on Plaza Catalunya, I don't think there's any equivalent to Target. You mean a place that both carries food, clothing, home decor etc? 3. In Born Santa Catarina is a nice food market to get great fish and vegetables. La Boqueria on Las Ramblas is a given as well (for meats, vegetables, fruits, herbs, spices etc). It's a must see for tourists in Barcelona, and a must visit for foodies who live here. 4. I'll have to pass on this. 5. A lot of people have asked this before, so if you search this group I bet you get tons of recommendations for housekeeping.:-)

The larger Carrefours are like Targets, but not the smaller ones in the city. You could try CC Diagonal Mar or CC La maquinista (which has a Taco Bell) which are malls in the American style. There are lots of dry cleaners around but haven't seen any drop off all your laundry for washing and folding. You can find ice all over the place, even our parking garage sells it. In a pinch, you could try asking a local bar, too. There are eco, green, etc grocery stores like Ametller but also lots of regular ones spread around. We go to Bon Preu but that's more a matter of brand loyalty and location. Every neighborhood has an old style market where you roam the aisles and hit the fish counter, the butcher, the veggie counter etc.
Hola chicos, can anyone recommend a good supermarket to buy ingredients for Thai food? Holy basil, Thai aubergines (devil's fig), etc?

Mew A. replied:
Hi, try this shop. It's the go-to place for me and my Thai friends here ☺ I've seen holy basils there. Not sure about the aubergines, though. Dong Fang Carrer de Balmes, 6, 08007 Barcelona 933 01 25 87 https://goo.gl/maps/9 dBmUXvR5SD2

EXPATS!
two questions for you,
1. where can I find a nature store where they sell coconut oil and sweet almond oil?
2. And who knows some semi good quality store where...
Sylvie M. replied:
You can find coconut oil in any Ametller shop
Violeta I. replied:
You have them in Raval.in Paki's stores as well, but they are not very bio. And for your number 2 issue I would recommend El Corte Ingles outlet in Rambla de Poble Nou (I think the other ine clise to Lilla is not opened anymore). There is a MISACO outlet between Universitat and Sant Antoni and they have very cheap begs. I bought a small one for 17€ 2 years ago and I still use it.
