Hi there can anyone recommend a good cattery in Basingstoke, for our two lovely purebred cats in the summer? Thanks :)
Emma B. replied:
Lyde Kennels and Cattery on the A30 near the hatch pub. It's excellent and run by a great couple. My dog is always very happy when he's there
Nicky L. replied:
Merrydown Moggies in Chineham are very good.

We use Lyde Kennels on A30 for both our cat and dog. Lovely owners.

Northgate Cattery in Cliddesden is very good. Well run by a lovely owner. The Cattery is on a beautiful farm and the cars listen to classical music which is ver calming. Excellent rates also!

Can anyone recommend a good cattery in the Basingstoke area? Our usual lovely lady is retiring so we need to find a new holiday home for Spooky. Many thanks!

Northgate Cattery in Farleigh is lovely:)).

Hi Carol I run a cattery close to Micheldever Station called Coxford Down Cattery. www.coxforddowncattery.co.uk Feel free to look us up online, on Facebook or pop in to visit us if you would like to have a look at our facilities!:)
Laura L. replied:
We always use Louise at Top Cat. It was a bit odd under the old owner but Louise and her daughter dote on our two when they go to stay. have used Lyde but both cats came home with flu and one was hospitalised for 4 days because of it. Owners were not interested.

Laura Lutener is Top Cat Cattery under new ownership - previous owner was called Bob? I'm asking because in 2010 I was an RSPCA volunteer and we'd been hiring half of Top Cat's pens for sometime. We stopped using it after I looked after our RSPCA cats at the cattery and I discovered Bob was not looking after the cats adequately to say the least . He 'banned' me from the cattery because I was cleaning out soiled litter trays!! We moved our cats into foster homes after that. Personally it was not a place I would ever use for a cat of my own. I'm hoping these are new owners, I've seen the website photos and it looks better so I do hope so?
Hilary W. replied:
Hi Carol, Basingstoke and District Cats Protection don't recommend any one cattery. There are several in our area and which one you choose will depend on many things, where you live and how far your cat is comfortable being transported, budget, etc. My two cats go to one near us in Sherfield on Loddon, Dudley's. I'm sure you will find one to suit all your needs. Hilary (Branch co-ordinator).
Nickie L. replied:
I use a cat sitter......my two are happier at home. Can thoroughly recommend Purple Penguin.
Heidi A. replied:
Hi Carol I don't know which area you live but I can happily recommend Gracemere Cattery in Viables. My cats have gone there several times and are very well looked after. Their rates are very reasonable too x
