The food (and prices and kashrut) at Shawarma Max, in BIG, is excellent; the atmosphere, not really, but it's quiet enough to talk. The hamburger place on Yosef Ben Matityahu, just north of the university (close to Ringelblum) is very good.
Ira M. replied:
The Golden Goose is a noisy as a cattle slaughter house, although the food is excellent. Ringleblum is close to what you are looking for, but I find it very cold there in winter. If you can find a place to eat outside, Kampai, a sushi and Japanese-style restaurant, in Big is great.
Miriam G. replied:
Ringlebloom Cafe. Definite yes. And Hodu Haktana. I guess it depends on the kashrut you hold by.

I ate at The Butchery in the Old City for one of my birthday meals. Pretty good meat selection but definitely no massages were being offered. Although, that could have been an interesting combination of food and relaxation.
Z'ev F. replied:
Yakuta at Ana--cz & Mordai Ha G. in Old City. Meat & Fish -pricier by local standards but good food does asparagus worthy of tipping alone Please seek other opinions, too. Arabica in Youth Art Center - needs reservation can be noisier Decent food & varied menu . Saftra or such off of Hevron by Plaza - under whelmed service (was advertising for staff [desp]) does have areas where it can be quieter.
Richard T. replied:
Cafe Ringelblum sounds like what you may have had in mind. It satisfies all the desiderata.
Hey, recommended restaurants that are open on Shabbat? Trying to find a place to go to now...

Follow them, they are great https://m.facebook.com/%D7%93%D7%94%D7%91%D7%94-%D7%91%D7%97%D7%A6%D7%A8-%D7%90%D7%95%D7%9B%D7%9C-%D7%94%D7%95%D7%93%D7%99-%D7%91%D7%99%D7%AA%D7%99-329764450536635/
Does anyone know of a good space in Beersheva for people to chill and work? I miss the US coffee shop culture for doing the work I need to do and feel like I haven't...
Emily K. replied:
City Coffee & Bar (סיטי קפה ובר)
Patti G. replied:
Cafe Hillel on One Plaza. I've done interviews there.
Jodi A. replied:
Tzomet Sfarim attatched to Cafe Siesta at Big is excellent for that. There are large tables in the bookstore so you can even get a coffee to go, sit there and work if it's too loud in the cafe itself.
Is there a nice restaurant in the Grand Kenyon? Taking friends out tonight but have to stay close to home.
Yocheved G. replied:
Aroma, Cafe Cafe both have vegan plus regular menus at nice prices. 1 st floor, inside main entrance.
Rachel P. replied:
Cafe cafe is closed for renovations. Shufra is also closed. Biga is nice and so is Greg in my opinion. Both on level 1
Beth A. replied:
The best is Cafe Bleaker, good food and good service. They have a management who really cares about the customer. Biga I wasn't impressed with at the Kanyon, service isn't great, I won't go back. (the one in big is much better) Greg I haven't eaten in in years because we were very disappointed. It looked like Cafe Cafe closed, Ate there ones and wouldn't return. Aroma is always good - but I wouldn't call it a nice restaurant.
Arabica is fairly expensive and you may need to reserve seats in advance, but it has a big selection of cuisines. Herzl is more popularly priced. You might also try Yakuta French/Morroccan restaurant - Mordei HaGhetaot corner of Anilevitz streets opposite the Fringe Theater. It's prices are between those of the other two.
And place, activity, restaurant recommendations for when my parents visit beer sheva? Thank you in advance!
Z'ev F. replied:
Very lovely place, with decent service. Watch out for translations! =Cafe Arabica at Young Peoples` Arts & Performance Center, AVOaT btw Hertzl & HaHISTADRUiT
Nicole H. replied:
Goomba at Yes Planet is the best Italian restaurant in Beer Sheva
This is quite a popular question but...what are the kosher restaurants here in BS? Not including Arabic, Butchery, and the shipudim places...
I ALWAYS get stuck on...
Megan T. replied:
I know, Max. They're both such great places! But...are there more? I know Manga is a bar and is kosher. Ringleblum Cafe, too, I think. Maybe a sushi place OTHET THAN Japanika? Why is this so hard? Lol!
Megan T. replied:
All excellent points! That strip in the Old City has lots of good choices. Also Hapina Hachama over there is kosher and good grub (although more for snacking - not an actual restaurant). Agadir is definitely not kosher. They have bacon on their menu. I salute your tired fingers for your excellent suggestions:). Thank you!!
Looking for recommendations for nice restaurants... Preferably Kosher, and preferably with an entrance that doesn't involve tons of stairs/has nearby parking (I don't...
Judy F. replied:
Yakuta at the corner of Mordei HaGhetaot and Annilevtz streets is French / Morroccan and Kosher and has a quiet intimate atmosphere. Also on Annilevitz street at the corner of HaHistadrut is The Butchery - a kosher meat restaurant in an historic building. On the other side of The Youth Center is The Herzl Grill (kosher) which is your typical Israeli grill and more reasonably priced than either the Butchery or Arabica.
I need recommendations for really good restaurant in Beer Sheva or the south, with a kashrut certificate. Somewhere to celebrate a 60th birthday for about 8/10 people.
Z'ev F. replied:
What sort of meal? D-M Yakuta(M) is an option. - suggest for large group reservation. Ma-af HaRishonim (D) Canyon HaNegev. Reserve not required but suggested.
