For a slightly larger operation, Larson Gross is really fantastic.

Try Ronda Smith at Bellingham After Hours (http://www.afterhoursbellingham.com/) or Jon Stromberg (http://www.strombergcpas.com/) I've used Ronda for payroll and had good results and I've used Stromberg for my personal and business taxes since 2004. Stromberg is probably the more expensive option, but if you have a complex tax situation that's the choice I would make. Not because I think Ronda couldn't handle it, but because that's what I have done and am happy with the outcome.

I've had great luck with Erin Schlichting (http://www.schlichtingwixsoncpas.com) for my LLC taxes. Very competent and reasonably priced. And it probably goes without saying, but don't wait until April (or, if you file an extension, September or whenever it expires) to inquire.
Looking for a place that does taxes in the area preferably not H R block

I use https://www.greenbacktaxservices.com I couldn't be bothered to figure it out on my own. It was $640 to have them file state and federal returns for me. Highly recommend them too. Great customer service, easy to to share documentation with... works really well.
Here is a question, as an expat living in China, I have a under the table job. I get paid in Chinese money but no money earned in the US. How would I have to file?

>I know that I may be exempt from filing if I spent less than x amount of time in the states. You're not exempt from filing even if you never step foot in the US. Generally though, if you just have a job and no US derived income (rentals, dividents, interest etc) then you file and exclude up to $105,000 (not exact value) of your foreign sourced income. After that you can use can use tax paid in the UK as credit against US taxes. Or you can just use UK tax as credit against US taxes since you're UK taxes are probably higher. Which one is better/easier depends on your situation. There are other considerations too like if you were physically present in the US for more than 30 days last year, also be aware of FATCA forms if you have a UK bank account If you're not confident doing it yourself then get an expat focused tax preparer. But the above will give you an idea of how it will go |So this is my first year in England that isn't tied to a US income Side question. How long have you been in the UK? This makes it sound like you have been there for awhile but had a US based job.

/r/tax would be helpful as I suspect that you have a misconception of how the FEIE works from your post. You would not be exempt from filing - your income may be exempt from tax - there is a difference.

Turbo Tax is super easy with rental property. By the version for rental property, it's worth it. Been using it with rental property for 8 years and even used it for a 1040 Exchange.
