Looking for a great seafood restaurant in San Leandro Oakland area. No chain. Is Spanglers still around?

Dino Crocetti. lol Most women tell me they thought he was sexier than Sinatra.
Paul V. replied:
Well Barbara Huffman Fleming Dean Martin did knock the Beatles out of the Billboard #1 Spot. Got on the phone and told Sinatra; "What? Am I the only one who's going to do it?" lol
Paul V. replied:
And here is the song that knocked the Beatles down a notch. (Still works on women to this day too)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXJL7 tlECg0

Barbara Huffman Fleming there is sooo many ordinances and regulations in Berkeley, those prices there are to be expected. One of my favorites is across the bay in Belmont; The Van's http://thevansrestaurant.com/Lunch1.html
Skates in Berkeley or Horatios in San Leandro. For those looking to travel back to the look and feel of an early 1960's Reno or Las Vegas Club vibe, Dinos in Castro Valley is a good value without having to replace the flux capacitor in the DeLorean.
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive but good restaurant with a romantic vibe in the city or peninsula? I'm taking my bf out for his birthday and he works in food so I...

On the peninsula, downtown Redwood City is nice for dinner, a stroll, and a drink or two around Broadway and Jefferson. My favorites:
[Vesta](http://www.vestarwc.com) - perhaps the best restaurant in RWC, and it won't break the bank. Small plates and outstanding Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizza with interesting toppings - one of my favorites is sausage, Moscarpone, honey, and serrano chile. Mmm. Split a pie, the arugula salad, and the Brussels sprouts with prosciutto or roasted carrots with cumin. Good beer and wine but no cocktails.
[Quinto Sol](http://www.quintosol.ca) - the newest of the truly amazing Sol restaurants. Authentic, regional, upscale Mexican food (the family also has restaurants in Palo Alto and Mountain View). The guajillo, mole, or tampiqueña are my standard orders and are each under $20. They also have a large bar with top-notch selection of tequilas, mezcals, etc and my favorite margaritas in the Bay Area ($9-$12 unless you go super fancy).
[Martins West](http://www.martinswestgp.com) - a 'gastropub' with a huge selection of scotches and craft beers, as well as tasty cocktails in the $10 range. While their food is pretty good (especially their small plates), I'd recommend eating at Vesta or Quinto Sol and sticking to drinks here.

Not a joke, the taco bell on the beach in Pacifica. Beautiful view of the ocean, working fireplace, just way too nice to be a taco bell.

Not sure what your definition of romantic and inexpensive are... but some places I've gone to with my SO and enjoyed are: [Elephant Sushi](http://www.yelp.com/biz/elephant-sushi-san-francisco) - Really great sushi, tiny place with good atmosphere, only takes reservation for first seating, you can walk across the street to get awesome ice cream at Swensen's afterwards. [Namu Gaji](http://www.yelp.com/biz/namu-gaji-san-francisco) - Korean fusion food, hipster vibe, lots of awesome wood/steel furniture. [Kitchen Story](http://www.yelp.com/biz/kitchen-story-san-francisco) Brunch-ish food, interesting menu, delicious, technically Asian fusion, but really light on the Asian IMO. [Burma Superstar](http://www.yelp.com/biz/burma-superstar-san-francisco-2) and/or [Mandalay](http://www.yelp.com/biz/mandalay-san-francisco) - alcoholic drinks are really weak at both establishments, but I think trying new food together can be such a fun adventure / bonding experience, not sure if you guys have eaten at these or other Burmese places already (I heard Yamo is also good but I haven't been there) [Ken Ken Ramen](http://www.yelp.com/biz/ken-ken-ramen-san-francisco-2) - Super dark, long wait, crowded, mind blowing ramen, cute but sparse decor.

Delancey St. is fancy, incredibly cheap, has a view of the water and the bay bridge, and supports a good cause.

How tight is your budget? Give us a dollar range to work with so we can recommend the appropriate place that fits. One of the [Bargain Bites](http://www.sfgate.com/food/slideshow/Bargain-Bites-2013-72570.php) restaurants might be good.
