I second Lake Leatherwood. There are great camping spots there, and good trails. BUT, it hosts the big Fat Tire Festival (mountainbiking competition/fun ride) on July 17 weekend. Unless you plan to attend/participate, that might not be the best weekend to visit Leatherwood.

Hike in camping only at Hobbs, Devil's Den is the best but recently got some flooding so some of the camping area may not be available. Withrow Springs is an option.
