Yet another letter in the Observer about the prospect of 5000 new homes around the town in the coming years but no parallel planning for infrastructure expansion. Who do...
Sinead C. replied:
The poster clearly says "around the town" Cllr Warnell - not in the town, or are you suggesting only people who live in Stortford use Stortford services/infrastructure and therefore it shouldn't be their concern or the council's that there is joined up planning/thinking with neighbouring authorities?
Sinead C. replied:
4,634 - and this is without the Goods Yard increase or anything in Sawbridgeworth or across the border in Uttlesford: http://www.hertsandessexobserver.co.uk/East-Herts-District-Council-begins-consultation-proposals-15000-new-homes-decades/story-21878105-detail/story.html
Sinead C. replied:
This is a decent example of "incomplete evidence," how these things spiral and how the big picture about infrastructure gets obscured by individual applications viewed in isolation. Please note there are still not one but two applications for 800 homes at Elsenham yet to be determined: http://www.hertsandessexobserver.co.uk/Opposition-parties-attack-Conservatives-positive/story-25778352-detail/story.html
Ian H. replied:
Have a look at http://www.northharlow.com/the-proposal/creating-gilston-park-estate. Obviously infrastructure is critical but we do need places for our children and grandchildren to live.
Colin W. replied:
Sinead Corr you may (?) be aware of "the duty to cooperate" (with neighbouring authorities) if a draft District Plan is to stand a chance of Govt endorsement. That is exactly what E Herts Council has been doing for many months (it has to be evidenced) which has further impacted on the complexity and time line of completing its own District Plan. If our neighbours don't get theirs right - that adversely affects us. There are also many statutory bodies to consult (someone told me 38!). So, its not a finger in the air five minute task and we are trying to guess the future to 2031.
Colin W. replied:
Guess EHC effectively was Ian Hudson until 2002 when all its housing stock transferred to not for profit housing association. (After a tenant vote I think).
Ian H. replied:
So why are Housing Associations a better option than Councils?
Anyone know of any NHS dentists taking on new patients! I'm in soo much pain
Marianne T. replied:
Kirsty just went to "The Dentist" in town for her wisdom teeth - she's just had an infection to. They were really quick and saw her straight away and I think they have NHS places. It's the one next to the Methodist church opposite martins. I go to riverside bear the registry which also has nhs patients but they don't have appointments available for ages!
