We recommend our small clients to use the Fylde Accountants Spreadsheet http://www.fyldetaxaccountants.co.uk/resources.php which is a free download. It's what they use for all their clients no matter how big the portfolio, and however their bookkeeping is done. So if you are just starting out, and don't need a double entry system this is a no brainer. Once you progress to needing a "proper" accounts system Xero is an excellent choice. PM me & I can arrange for a subscription for a Cash based system (perfect for Landlords who don't want to issue Invoices and run Debtor reports) which isn't available to the general public. It costs £5/month instead of the equivalent £20/month for the full system, but there is a small set up charge.
