EDT's can only legally remove erupted wolf teeth under veterinary supervision (see BEVA website), plus ideally they should be covered against tetanus and receive local anaesthetic. Vets are fully trained in equine dentistry. Young horses are most likely to need dentals more frequently due to emergence of new teeth that are very sharp and to assist in removal of dental caps that can be very irritating and painful. I hope that helps, if you have more concerns over equine dentists versus vets I recommend looking at the British Equine Veterinary Association website and look under the heading of paraprofessionals.

Hi, Andrew can't sedate if needed and Abby Vets are also qualified dentists, so best of both worlds!!
Cindy B. replied:
Abby Vets, if you ring them and tell them your address they'll let you know when they have enough our clients to visit in your area so it's not overly expensive. When they did my horses from phoning them to request a dental visit I waited less than two weeks.
