any student sax would likely be too heavy AND child won't have the right breath control to make a sound with a real reed. probably would get very frustrated. http://www.grothmusic.com/ might suit a child of that age.

The Horn Shop not only repairs but sometimes sells horns of all kinds. Stop in and ask...if they don't have any for sale they can lead you in the right direction. Located on Farmington Ave in the Center...enter in the rear of the same building that houses S. K. Lavern.
Our son got a toy Sesame Street or Muppets sax as a gift years ago when he was about 2. Very cute. Try Toys R Us, Target, or Walmart for one like that.
