Tamara Oesterling - Heart of the Hills - hands down she is best vet in area for dogs or cats! Staff there is fantastic. Most comfortable, homey vet clinic around. I know people who drive over 100 miles to bring their pets to her clinic!!! She has a small "zoo" of her own with her own dogs frequently in the clinic. There is also Tinkerbell the cockatoo, Tank a great big grey kitty and Zena a petite tabby that will probably walk in to say hi and help put your own fur baby at ease!!! 830-249-2147. Call them. And welcome to the best part of the Texas hill country neighbor!

Yeah few months back I made the mistake and took my dog to Herbst because my vet was closed. My best friend had to be put down... almost $1000.00 later I was not only crushed due to my loss but my wallet was crushed too... by far my WORST decision. Dr. Morrison, I will never take any of my pets elsewhere. You are by far the most upfront and caring vet I have ever worked with. I recommend Dr Morrison vet clinic to anyone who wants the best of care for their best friends.

I called Dr. Mims' office at 9:00 this morning and he arrived at our house at 11:30 with his assistant. I was so impressed. He drives a mobile vet office that is equipped with X-ray equipment and a surgical suite. He is very knowledgeable and Bo liked both of them. He didn't charge any more than a regular vet. He is wonderful! Linda, I can't thank you enough. I would recommend him to anyone.

You can always apply for a Care Credit card. They can be used at vet office and not just human Doctor/dental offices. Herbst accepts them.

Maybe try Hill Country Animal League? I know they offer discounted/free services to people in Kendall County and Fair Oaks. I know of 2 vets as well, but I'm not sure what they would charge. You can always call and ask. Dr. Whitney Orlando of Water's Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Morrison. Whitney is a mobile vet.

Try San Antonio Pets Alive! I'm not sure if they will make you give up the dog to receive care. But how it works, they raise money from volunteers and use the money to pay for surgeries and care which are done by vets in SA. They may also have a list of vets that are willing to reduce bill. They're a great organization!
