Just one of many complaints on trip adviser about car rental.com looks like this is what has happened to me robbers. madgescotland · 25 November 2012, 22:10 scotland · 2 forum posts #18 of 142 · I have just returned from my holiday in Florida and I was, to say the very least, disappointed that when I collected the hire car from Dollar I was curtly informed that I would have to pay an additional $98.77 with regard to insurance - no choice. Prior to booking this car with Rentalcars I had spoken with a member of the Reservations Team who categorically informed me that "there would not be any additional charges" and that I was fully covered. Dollar would not move from their stance and advised me to take the matter up with Rentalcars. I complained to Rentalcars who did not accept any responsibility, saying "read the small print" . I would not use Rentalcars again, to me the customer reps are dishonest and only out to get a sale - be warned!

I cannot comment on what has happened to you Helen, but I travel over to USA 3 times a year and I have never had a problem with using rentalcars.com and have never heard about an extra charge for insurance, I will double check my small print this time with my current booking ref insurance before I go as I am using them in March again.

Helen Lister Lee .. have you tried going to Dollar direct with your complaint.. Have to say though, I have rented well over 20 times with rentalcars.com and have never had a problem and find their service really good

I always use rentalcars.com as they search all companies and will equal or better the prices.. e-mail geoffsanders@rentalcars.com and he will phone you back

Rentalcars.com always competitive and if you find a good price fill out form and go all the way to the bookings page then don't book they will ring you with a better price but you need to register with them too

Rentalcars.com have never responded to 4 emails I have sent regarding dollar taking money of my CCC. I was told by rental cars they would sort it out. Waited a month already and no response customer services is really poor
