The Falls Suite at Fox Hollow Inn Jessica Hunter runs an ADORABLE PRIVATE AIRBNB that gives the guest a less hotel feel. the suite has a huge tub, and there is also a hot tub, private as only 2 rooms are rented at a time. THE PERFECT ROMANTIC STAYCATION

Laguna Beach. Great walk along Main beach has stairs to climb up rocky area. Good wave crash. Very pretty. Playground on beach. There is a public bus that goes along PCH. The ride from Newport to Laguna is nice. No parking hassles that way. The Newport Beach Central Library. Park area around it too. I second the Balboa Ferry. If you park on PCH side, I like to find a spot on residential street. Walk down short Balboa Island Marine Ave or walk around the island to avoid shops. Bring sand buckets. Then take the ferry $1 adults .50 kids each way. http://www.balboaislandferry.com. You end up on Balboa Peninsula. There’s a fun zone and if you keep walking a couple blocks you’re at the beach on ocean. You can park on peninsula side and do in reverse also. Search Groupon Newport Bch, for kayak rental or harbor cruise. Paddle around homes/yachts. Or guided tours on bigger boat. This map shows great locations to visit. Unique ecological area. Pretty much free. Depending on route, you will pass the Peter Muth on way to Balboa. Great view. http://www.newportbeachca.gov/how-do-i-/view/things-to-do/back-bay-loop-trail Also on drive to Balboa. At Newport Theater Arts Center, A tiny park on Cliff Drive that has a great view of Newport Harbor and islands. Keep going down Cliff drive to Cliff Dr Park and Community Center. There is play equipment and lots of small steep trails. Santa Ana Zoo. It’s has a great monkey area. Small not exhausting. Also the Bowers Children’s Museum. Perfect size. Santa Ana is also a place to look for great Mexican food.

Seriously need to check out smartdestinations.com because they have awesome passes that get you into so many attractions for one price and some of them are upgraded automatically to vip status. Best money I’ve ever spent while traveling in that area. We literally hit almost every single amusement park and only paid roughly $150 per person in total.

Huntington Beach is great.. nice pier and downtown. Cheaper than anything south and Disneyland is just inland from there. About 25/35 min from disneyland

The North Fork area (i.e. Bowman) is certainly quieter & a great spot for car camping. Bring bug spray as well as bear spray though! As far as hiking (short & for kiddos) try Two Medicine. You can reserve a boat tour & then go up to Twin Falls & catch a later boat back. Or, also at Two Med: Paradise Point (only 0.5 miles) or Aster Falls. General recommendations: Get a relatively early start at any site to beat the crowds. Make reservations for boat tours/lodging well in advance or you may have few options--look for vacation rentals, avoid the overpriced (and thin-walled) lodges. Car camping is an excellent option, but again, you need to arrive to sites early or the campgrounds may be full esp. in July/early August. Logan Pass? Plan to get there well before 10 am when the parking lot is completely full, or park at St. Mary & take the shuttle bus so you don't have to worry about driving/parking & can just enjoy the views! My favorite stay is at https://www.facebook.com/219772098033481 Lone Elk Lodge but I'm guessing they are booked full, maybe even into summer 2018!
Bowman and Kintla Lakes are great and it is the quieter part of the park.

Ask Jack about that gravel road we took up the West side of the Park. We went out on one of the lakers with CLEAR water so you could see many feet down to the bottom in places. At Many Glacier, there is a great trail to Ptarmigan Falls.
