Michelle, your request is very broad.. does the student have any musical experience or from scratch? I own Sonix Music Entertainment in Erie. I also play guitar and bass guitar but I don't call myself a teacher. Learn the basics and when you get ready for a teacher it will all come together easier. I also have a lot of musical equipment including electric guitars, amps, and other things.

Meanwhile, back to the guitar lessons question... YES get a teacher and I have heard Chris Rippey is good also!

Genevieve Lundblad in Erie Village. I've been taking lessons and am loving it! My daughter takes piano & voice from her as well.

Rick Pruitt he is the absolute best and was affiliated with the Music school in Lafayette. He left there a year ago and now does lessons in his home studio. He has taught for over 20 years and teaches suzuki and non suzuki method. He is great with both of my boys no matter how their behavior is! He has taught them from scratch and after 1.5 of lessons for Ben he is playing amazingly and reading music fluently at 7. Amazing work Rick has done with him. I am not musical nor did I choose to put the kids in this…..they chose to do it. Luke quit because he is a sporty instead but can't say enough good things about Rick….you can PM me if you need to talk about it and give me your phone number. PS we do weekly lessons and every other week it's playing in a group which includes parents because Suzuki is supposed to be parents and kids together. I have failed that part of it….I don't play but you can!
Kerri S. replied:
Michelle Rick is absolutely the most fun and not anything like Suzuki is known for. He has monkeys hanging off the guitar and tons of fun games for the kids. He may even offer u a beer while u are at it!

Bryan, I am trying to understand your disagreement but what ever. I guess i go back to my own experience after 30 years performing I thought I would take some Bass lessons lasted about ten minutes. I knew more than the college graduate Teacher. Everyone takes a different tac and I appreciate your comments. If you would like to learn a little more about my career my web site is sonixmusic.com.. Pictures were not undated due to switching to an agent.. I thank you for your playing ability and most of all your interest in music. Music is going to be a lost art unless you and I help bring it back every chance we have. Have a safe weekend
