The Smith and Wesson M&P line has some great handguns. The M&P 9 mm is a great gun

Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9 mm. It was my first handgun and it is wonderful! Plus, a TON of people own this one and I have never heard a negative thing about it

Eternity Moreau is right, its all about what you feel comfortable with. When my boyfriend and I started shopping for mine, we both thought i would get something small since im fairly small in size, but i have a CPX-1 9 mm that is a lot bigger than we initially thought I would end up with but its perfect. Definitely go to the indoor range and rent a few to get a feel for what you like or are looking for!

Custer Sportsman club has a shooting range and I believe they can offer lessons. Get your Concealed weapons permit. I have a Glock 23 (Similar to your photo). Solid, accurate handgun. Dave's Sporting Goods in Lynden is a good place to buy.

Your best bet would be to go to a range that has rentals. Go pay a little bit and shoot some different things. The one I know is in Everett. http://www.westcoastarmorynorth.com

I bought my handgun at All American Armory in Bow, they're awesome there, super helpful, and nice!
