First off, what is your insurance? Second, it is definitely medical, my son had his done in Virginia. When we moved to Florida, we were given the name Dr. Robert Marx at UM by his surgeon in VA, but we have not had the need for an oral surgeon yet. My oldest is also having his wisdom teeth extracted in Boca and I asked his surgeon his familiarity with Gorlin in case of future need and he seemed extremely knowledgeable. His name is Dr. Keith Kaner(561) 487-4545. Hopefully, this helps.

I just had another thought that may be an option. I live between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, LA, we have LSU School of Dentistry that a lot of local people use for dental care. I am not sure I would want a student doing this type of surgery on my child, but if you have something similar in your area, it may be worth a phone call or email for a referral. We also have Tulane University in New Orleans that operates a hospital and clinic. My daughters dermatologist is a professor at Tulane and does clinic 2 days a week. She has a vast network of colleagues that she consults with from other universities. She invited us to participate in a conference that was being held in the area. Emily was 1 of about 10 patients she invited. Roughly 2 dozen dermatologist from all over the country reviewed Emily's chart and visually examined her. They then went into the conference and discussed the cases. It was the equivalent of having 2 dozen second opinions, for free! I know you have been given tons of advice, some will be great advice and some will not apply to your specific situation, but thank goodness for forums like this. Having a support system of people who are willing to share their own stories and offer encouragement makes us all feel a little less "alone" in the world. Hugs to you and your beautiful daughter.

It took me a minute to get my thoughts together but when I did I called Kristi Schmitt Burr and she gave me Dr Brian Schmidt and Dr Daniel Buchbinder both in NYC. Thanks Kristi ! My daugher has an appointment on Friday. She's at NYU and having an issue with a 'drain' that was put in to shrink a cyst. His office is so close to her so very grateful to make the connection for now and the future issues. Thanks for the responses!!

Inquire at Tufts University Dental School. Dr Addie Alt-Holland is a researcher there, but knows who might be able to treat you, depending on your insurance.
