Call Mad Science. http://calgary.madscience.org They do roughly hour long hands-on and gee-whiz flash-bang science demonstrations for kids, and they are *very* popular. And kids love them. The prices are reasonable and they do shows for schools, summer camps, birthday parties, you name it. Source: I used to work for them (Yes, I was a Mad Scientist!)

Hi, are there any suggestions for kids' day camp places for spring break? I realize it's kinda late to be looking, but we're new at this. :) Please and thanks!

We need full time. YMCA, Butterfield acres are full. I wasn't able to find anything with Cardel Place. Telus Centre is also full for our daughter's age. Vecova has not released a schedule and they were not helping on the phone either. We'll have to find a teenager or a babysitter at this point.

Kathleen Irulanne, I was going to suggest you try Calgarygymcentre.com as well...they had fantastic classes, although I am not sure if they were full day.

I used J&J when I moved into a house with a hot tub. Great service and the prices seemed fair. The guy did a tutorial on how to maintain it since I had no idea. http://www.jandjservices.ca/

I did a 41 day camping tour in Africa last March with G adventures. It was very well done and G adventures is a Canadian company. They also do a fabulous job reinforcing the importance of Responsible travel with great programs to give back to the communities they run tours in. And my favorite... they don't support any type of tourism that exploits Animals or jeopardizes Animal welfare
Looking for recommendations for Nepal, specifically an Everest Base Camp Trek - Has anyone done this, and if so, with or without a guided company and why?
Suzanne M. replied:
Myself and two others did the Everest base camp trek in 2012. We went through Roland at roland@themountaincompany.co.uk. Had our own guide and two porters. We did the 'luxury' trek which meant that we stayed in the best places available. Which didn't always mean that much (no showers, hole in the floor, etc.). I highly recommend The Mountain Company as they took care of every little thing. Even when we had to hire a helicopter to get out as Lukla was socked in and no planes were flying. Having a guide means you get to understand more of the people and land as they are so knowledgable and are constantly pointing things out to you.
