Try Google Explorer (~$360) or Hotwire (~420) taxes in depending on May dates and likely stopovers in Vancouver.
Chris M. replied:
It's common to see flights from Calgary to Vegas in the range of $350 roundtrip incl taxes, but that's usually mid week and/or flights with a stopover. (Non-stop weekend flights are rarely in this range) My guess is that your brother-in-law is getting married on the May long weekend? Long weekends are the death of Vegas deals unfortunately. Check out this graph from Google Flights. Note the spike in prices around Thu, May 15 & Fri, May 16. It's not a coincidence that this is the beginning of the May long weekend. If you change the filter to 'non-stop' the price increase is even more dramatic. https://www.google.ca/flights/explore/#explore;f=YYC;t=LAS;li=3;lx=5

Autoslash.com is awesome. You pick the minimum required size vehicle and they find the lowest rate of any of the rental companies. No payment required until you pick the rental up. No cancellation fees. They also keep checking on the rates and rebook you cheaper if possible. We originally booked on the big Island for 12 days or something, they ended up saving us 100$ US in the 2 months before we got there.

Car rental for sure. Another Costco vote. Road to Hana, driving up to Kapalua- The plantation golf course has an old plantation house for their club house. We had a great lunch there. Heading down to Kihei and Wailea. There's a beach walk in Wailea that is beautiful and takes you in front of all the expensive hotels down that way. If you're in to golfing look on golfnow for discounts. ABC stores. Our first trip we found a couple of bazaars with some really unique Hawaiian souvenirs, etc around the Kaanapali area. Paia was a really cool place to wander around and watch the surfers at the beach. What I think is overrated is a luau. We spent a huge amount of money on it and weren't impressed. We also did not like seeing the Penguins at the Hyatt.

Hi Annie Q Vu-Hrouda! Mt family and I travelled to Honolulu end of March this year. Our flights were $500 a person through Flighthub ! As for cart rental, if you have a Costco membership, I'd go through them. You cvan request for a car seat when reserving the car rental. With Costco's car rental, it's unlimited kms and you get 1 additional driver atr no cost! For stroller rental, Honolulu has a few baby equipment rentals. I particularly used Paradise Baby Co. http://www.paradisebabyco.com/ They were very nice and they deliver pretty much anywhere on the island. They can also drop off the items at the airport if you decided to just rent the carseat/stroller combo for them but I think there's additional fee if the drop off is atr trhe airport. Their regular deliver fee is $45 US I think. Hope that helps!:)
Lisa J. replied:
I think $700 is very expensive. Check out the app hopper and set up notifications for your trip so it will let u know change in prices. When we went we paid $369 round trip. I also traveled with a 2.5 yr old. We rented a van with a car seat but took our stroller. But u can bring your own car seat and stroller just they check it as u r getting on the plane. We went on this rental site where they bid for your rental. We got a van for 7 days for $500. I have heard that rentals through Costco r pretty cheap, we went through dollar.com.

Kevin P. replied:
I have rented 3 times in CR. First 2 times were arranged through the place I stayed at just outside the SJO airport. First was through Casamarin-costarica.com and second was through adventure-inn.com. Both places picked me up at SJO on arrival and looked after the car rental the next day after being able to get a good nights sleep. Very helpful, reasonable and efficient. The third time I thought I would try it on my own. Bad decision on my part. I went though Ecomony at the LIR location and what a run-around. I won't use Economy ever again and I probably won't fly into LIR again. Was much easier for me using the first-night/last-night hotel in SJO to handle the bookings.

I am going to Germany in July. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced car rental out of Frankfurt? Also considering Either Budapest or Prague. ...
Norma P. replied:
Have you searched this site already for the car rental question because I answered a post with my suggested website, which I can longer remember. It might have been holidayautos.com, they search for the best deal and it worked for us out of FRA. And I vote for Prague too...go from Berlin to Prague, but make sure you can cross the border with the car.
Tanya H. replied:
Try Sixt or Europcar. Budapest hands down. Actually both if you're driving. Just be sure to tell the rental counter person exactly what countries you are going to when you pick up the car and they'll make sure you have a car that is allowed out of Germany to the east. Depending on how long you have, I'd recommend a loop something like Frankfurt, Bamberg, Dresden, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Frankfurt. I've driven almost the same loop in about 14 days a couple years ago, and just did Bamberg/Dresden/Prague/Munich this past December (although in different order on a 4 week trip that included many other stops). I say Budapest because it feels less touristy and has a stronger east meets west vibe. The Szechenyi Thermal Baths are amazing, as are the great market hall, and the parliament buildings and so much more. I could easily spend a whole week just in Budapest, whereas I'm ready to get out of Prague after about 2 days (although it is also a great city and there are lots of amazing sights like the Charles Bridge, Jewish Museums, Prague Castle, etc.). If you're not up for a whole loop or just don't have the time, there a fabulous smaller Czech city called Cesky Krumlov a couple hours south of Prague that is very worth a visit. Feel free to PM if you've got any questions:-)
Lukas M. replied:
Prague is great, but like Lorraine said above Kutna Hora is amazing. It's worth it to do a day in Prague and see all the sights, but you don't experience the Czech Republic until you leave most of the tourists behind. Another tip: avoid all the restaurants in the Old Town. They're expensive and have poor quality. Take a short walk, maybe 2 blocks away, and you'll see prices drop 50-75%. Mind you, the Czech isn't known for its customer service, but I guarantee you'll have a better and cheaper meal. Kutna Hora is one of my favourite places in the Czech, it's also home to 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Samantha H. replied:
Close to San Juan: visit the old city including the forts, Pirilo Pizza Rustica is a local favourite, Ali Baba along Ave Ashford is delicious Turkish food, Luquillo beach, hike through El Yunque National Forest to some waterfalls, natural waterslides along the river, zip lining at Toro Verde, stop for breakfast at a local bakery (panadería) where quesitos are a Puerto Rican specialty. When at the beach, look for pinchos and empanadas at small kiosks. Also look for mofongo, it's best at the small mom and pop restaurants. Close to Ponce: Isla de Caja de Muertos is a beautiful beach, parque de bombas, Gilligan's Island just a short ferry ride from Guánica. If you can do some driving, go to Playa Sucia at Cabo Rojo. You can also take a ferry from Fajardo to either Culebra (very touristy, be at the ferry by 6am to get tickets) or Vieques (very quiet, can sleep in before grabbing the ferry). If you go to Vieques or Fajardo, Check out the bioluminescent bays (they've been really dim lately, but might brighten before you go). Also there's an amazing waterfall at Gozalandia in San Sebastián, try and go during the week to avoid crowds. **I'm an ex-Calgarian living in PR, if you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a PM

Carol J. replied:
I've used a few different ones. Best price was with Budget, service was great at all of them. The cost for insurance completely exorbitant unless you want to give a pre authorization for $5000 and use the coverage offered by most credit cards. Best deal I got recently was booking through Westjets site before I went. I paid $117 for an econo model for 10 days. Note: most vehicles are manual transmission, an upgrade to an automatic almost doubles the price.

I tend to always book with Alamo. My suggestion is to become an Alamo insider. I book as soon as my flights are booked and never pick pay now. I then check back every few days / weeks and rebook at the lower price then cancel the original booking. I'm going to Las Vegas in February and started booking in December. My rate was $780. I'm down to $470 now. I make it into a game to see how much I can save. Remember, Alamos published price includes all taxes where as the other companies price is always before taxes.
