I'm currently having Physiotherapy via the NHS due to a knee issue, I'm having it done at the Dynamic Health facilities, you can self-refer as well so you can by-pass any need for a GP. http://www.eoemskservice.nhs.uk/physiotherapy-self-referral/physio-direct I'm not sure what GP clinic you go to but might be worth trying to consult another Doctor before, see if they're any more helpful.

Hi, oh no poor you. A friend of mine uses one on Hills Road. She says they are very good and can sometimes be lucky to get a cancellation appointment. She also said you will hurt like hell the day after but they are very good and have helped her lots. She sees either Marc, Sarah or Celia. Num is 01223 242828
