Somerville - Go to Elm Street. Go [here.](http://www.yelp.com/biz/porter-square-dry-cleaners-and-tailors-somerville#query:Dry%20Cleaners) The guy there did the following alterations for me: * Extended my suit at the sleeves. * Slimmed up one of my pants.

http://jackstailoring.com/ in porter He might be a bit expensive but I had a lot of alterations done on a pair of suit pants, jacket and dress shirt came to ~$275 but it's amazing how much better it fit once he was done.

You've probably already gone by now, but Joe at Rizzo's Tailoring is pretty awesome. Just be aware that he's going to give you very honest feedback - if he thinks that it's not worth fixing or wouldn't work, he'll let you know. He's worth listening to, because he knows suits incredibly well. He's not the cheapest, but for complex stuff I always go to Joe first. He's done wonders for me and I always enjoy chatting with him when I stop by. It's also amazing to look at the suits he's making from scratch - they're GORGEOUS.
Le Couturier took care of altering an MA-1 flight jacket for me and did an excellent job. He'll work on all sorts of things and his prices are reasonable - he's the guy I plan to go to when I have something Joe wouldn't work on. (Like a flight jacket.)

Jack's tailoring in Porter. It's expensive, but I think you get what you pay for - he is an honest guy, and will tell you if the suit you bought doesn't flatter your body correctly, so you don't waste money on alterations, etc. Very happy with pants I had hemmed and dresses I had taken in at his shop.
Yes! Hands down, best place I've ever been to! I forget the name but here's the address. 506 Cambridge St (east Cambridge about 10 min from Inman). Dude is amazing!

Cambridge Street Cleaners. Cambridge & Sixth. Owner's name is Vartan. I've taken jeans, shirts, suits, and even a hockey jersey to him and everything has come back perfect. He does all the work for the CPD.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/cambridgeside-tailoring-cambridge Tucked in the hidden basement of the galleria you meet an elderly gentleman who reminds me of Mr. Fredricksen from Up. Had a pair of jeans that needed to be shorted and hemmed, told him what I needed, he took a measurements, gave me a ticket, and told me to come back in a week. Prices are posted, cost me $10, easy peezy, would go back.

Newbury Tailoring has been named one of the bests tailors in US. it's in Boylston Street.

Eastern Clothing in Watertown 76 Coolidge Hill Road if you need a suit as well. You need a car/cab/zip to reach the top but its worth it. These guys are seriously the best tailors in the area. Take a look at their wall and see who has gotten suits there.

It's not in Cambridge but I never miss a chance to plug Frank's on Winter Street in Boston. Located right off the red line at Park Street. I've had a bunch of stuff done there and it always comes out perfect.

There is one next to Bella Italia(?) just along from Byron Burger in town. My BF had some suit trousers altered and he was pleased with the job they did. Didn't cost the earth, either :)

I was looking about getting this done and the recommendation I got in town was for All Alts, or there is a stall in the Market Square, but they couldn't remember the name. I was pitching the question for reasonable quality that isn't hideously expensive!

For simple jobs, Oz Alterations off Mill Road is good: http://www.oz-alts.co.uk/prices.html If you don't mind waiting, he'll throw a discount on top of that if you choose to wait an additional week or two. Some caveats- he barely speaks any English (but enough to get your point across and have him understand it), the average non-discount turnaround time can be in excess of 2 weeks (but can be accelerated at extra cost), your clothes may reek of cigarette smoke despite his best efforts to smoke far away from his shop, and he can't do anything much more complicated than hemming jobs or adding zips.
