Wendy Dymond Step One: Rats only come to a food source, so make sure there is no uncover food about ( lack of food is why in the loft it is usually mice.). Step two: Councils Pest control are great for rats, but cheapest way is to do it yourself: Get the red posion from Moles Country Store on Broadoak Rd; daily, pop a few spoon-fulls on a plate in loft, and job soon done (when bait still on plate). If rats are outside, put posion down an 18" lenght of drain pipe instead of plate, that way other animals or birds can't get at it. Hope this helps and ye get peace of mind soon.
