I can only recommend Gardner Croft solicitors based on our house purchase & sale but I really liked them, very professional and efficient. I’m not sure if they are on the list but November is Will Aid month. You can donate a set amount in return for having your will drawn up. My husband & I did it 3 years ago and would definitely recommend it. You might be too late to get a slot (they only have a certain amount at each practice that takes part) but it’s worth sticking your details in the website to see if there’s anyone locally http://willaid.org.uk/ at least your ‘fee’ would then go to a good cause.

Suggest you call Richard Giles at Gardner Croft - he helped us with our will, very efficient and a fair price, close to the High St in Canterbury - say I recommended him and I’m sure you’ll be fine. Www.gardnercroft.co.uk

I would highly recommend Mr Brazier who is a partner at Bull & Bull Solicitors. My recommendation is based on working within estate agency and property development for over 20 years. He has acted on my behalf, and for my family and friends, for many years. Their website is www.bullandbull.co.uk

Looking for a good (and reasonable) solicitors for buying a house.
Jo W. replied:
I used Gardner Croft, castle street, they were cheaper than the "good value" ones who were recommended by the estate agents (Martin Tolhurst (very poor) quality solicitors). I used Sharon Selsby, she was beyond thorough and no more expensive than anyone else.

I have an excellent one I used to buy and now to sell+buy. If you want his details PM and i can introduce, David does a package deal and is excellent - he made me able to exchange and complete on the same day last time. However, he is in London, so it would be email/telephone based unless you were happy to journey. http://www.edclord.co.uk/

Martin Tolhurst. But go with Kevin Denny he's one of the partners. No sale no fee and fixed fee. I've used him 4 times and always completed before the expected time frame.

Where is the nearest and cheapest place near the St Stephens area to get a document certified? Are the police able to do this or does one have to go to a lawyer?
Sarah M. replied:
I've had to have documents certified. I used Geerings Solicitors (along the road from Primark and opposite Tesco), and they charged £5 per document to put their official stamp on and countersign. I doubt you'll find cheaper at any other solicitor.
