Bourne vets in Bekesbourne is a husband and wife run business. I wouldn't go anywhere else with mine. Have been with them now for 8 years. They offer a very personal service. Don't know anyone who thinks badly of them. Tel 01227 832322 They are also an RCVS Accredited practice.
Kez A. replied:
Barton Veterinary Hospital definitely. They've respected our pets' health but also our treatment choices (due to budget) every time. We've had 2 cats with cancer and one with diabetes and they've been excellent. They are a teaching hospital so their on site diagnostics and lab facilities are good, therefore speedy for your pet. We subscribe to their Healthy Pet Club (about £10 a month per cat) so as well as flea treatment, vaccination boosters, worming, free microchipping and 2 annual healthchecks, it also gives you a 20% discount on consults, tests and medication.

I like Barton Veterinary Surgery. Good veterinary care, nice vets, prompt appointments, flexible when the cat's wisely done a runner to get out of his twice annual health check, and were exceptionally kind on both occasions our old, sick cats were put to sleep.
Kerry M. replied:
I cannot recommend Bourne Vets enough ... my two gsd dogs had to be pts they were amazing and I was shocked to get a sympathy card in the post band written from the vets I will not take my wolf Bonnie and Clyde anywhere else they are in my opinion the best xx

Bourne vets x they are wonderful and I trust them totally. Have you heard about vhd2? https://www.facebook.com/Bournevets/
Ashley-Jay B. replied:
How cute!! I've got 4 myself! I wouldn't recommend signing up to any vets4pets or the ones inside pets at home. Absolutely awful and I've had such bad experiences getting both my males neutered and had nothing but problems after problems. Luckily I haven't had to get my two girls neutered. All 4 of my rabbits and westie are registered with Lady Dane in Whitstable who used to be Roger Baker vets until he passed away. Since Lady Dane have taken over we aren't that impressed! A new vets has opened in-between Whitstable and Canterbury, called Whitstable Bay Veterinary Centre and I've heard nothing but excellent reports about it. I've also gone in to get some information and all the nurses seem so welcoming and knowing and the practice is lovely and clean. We're considering moving all 4 rabbits and the dog to that vets!
Emma P. replied:
Toachim House in faversham is very good for rabbits
Nikki B. replied:
Barton vets are brilliant. Used them from 2 giant French lops and 2 guinea pigs. Definitely recommend.

Hi, does anyone have any advice on which of the vets in Canterbury are particularly good or bad? Thanks!
Charles P. replied:
We use Maison Dieu and they have been fantastic with my two cats. Also had to have one of my cats referred to Barton Veterinary as he needed major surgery, they were also fantastic and my cat could not be happier!
Mel A. replied:
Barton vets, new Dover road - been with them years - saved 2 of my dogs in the past - they are amazing! X
Claire N. replied:
Barton are not just a vet but a hospital too.. I personally choose this vets because they are 24/7.. All be it a different company at night but your pet gets 24/7 care if needed and someone is always there whatever the circumstance.. My partner and I used Maison Dieu - we could not meet the person to do our dogs spaying.. We saw someone different everyone.. Barton have now got our little puppy's support.. I wouldn't trust another..
Claire N. replied:
Vanessa and Chris Little are the top people there especially for operations however basic..
Jonathan F. replied:
Bourne Vets. I used to be Bartons and had some very bad advice from them. Moved to Bournes and i can't recommend them enough. They are independent run by a couple. Place like Bartons are a chain now. Which is a shame as they used to be great.
Gina P. replied:
Bourne Veterinary practice in Bekesbourne. Love them. I too feel unable to recommend Barton sadly.
Sarah L. replied:
I have never had any problems at Companion Care in Wincheap. Kind, compassionate and obviously love what they do! Plus, easy parking and appointments at the weekend.
Kara F. replied:
Bourne vets over at Bekesbourne are fantastic:) https://www.facebook.com/331712600201902Bourne Veterinary Practice
Rich W. replied:
Barton Vets are excellent. Not the cheapest but I'd say they were the best.
Viv C. replied:
I have used two in recent months and been very happy with both. Companion Care@Pets at home in Wincheap for my cats annual boosters and free check up. Bourne Vets for my new pups final vaccination and Vets Now (out of hours care used by both of the above) for when my pup was ill.
Cazz E. replied:
Avoid Ancare like the plague! Maison Dieu and Barton are good, Barton is pricey. Vets now the out of hours vets, are awful in my opinion. If you can find a vets that has it's own 24-hour emergency vets then that is the best option. I have had personal dealings with the chap who now has Vets for Pets in the sturry road pets at home and he is really good, Companion care in Wincheap store not so much. Bourne is good, Toachin House in Faversham is good, Faversham Vets are good, Anna House in Folkestone are brilliant, Animed are good.
Sarah N. replied:
I like Companion care at Pets at Home, they're always friendly, and, more importantly, my dog loves them
Dawn T. replied:
I agree Barton Vets are really good
Sarah N. replied:
If you want to try a new one, Whitstable Bay Vets are now taking bookings (between Blean and Whitstable on the A290), I've watched their building go up, with interest, wondering what it was going to be. Looks very posh
Natasha C. replied:
I use Maison Dieu Northgate. . They are fantastic.. last week my 2 year old cocker spaniel had to have a castration a husband and wife vet team there was fantastic .. totally contact me from dropping my dog off all the way through stages of procedure and recovery too the very next day they rang twice to see how my little dog was .. very caring and inexpensive to other local vets that charged the earth.. I will always be with Maison Dieu.. however each to there own..
Michelle V. replied:
I'd highly recommend Bourne Vets. Changed from companion care to those after 2 bad expierences and given completely the wrong advice.
Steph H. replied:
Lady Dane, they have practices in faversham and Whitstable x

Jan B. replied:
Definitely Bourne vets, Bekesbourne.
Samantha M. replied:

Some people from the newspaper have caught the scent of this story and seems Timone will be in the newspaper!:D I can fully hold you all responsible for this, thank you so much for all the incredible support x
James C. replied:
Timone has come back from Lady Dane vets, whole wing removed. He is wide awake and has taken the surgery very well, 5 days quarantine away from the other birds and then he will be back on the pond:)

Hi Linda! I own Backyards to Barnyards Pet Sitting Services and offer small scale puppy socializing and have 1 (maybe 2, pending) spot left for wednesdays. It's a group of three or four puppies only and we go out for 4 hours once a week on different outings and adventures. Get exposed to new stimuli, hiking/beach/snowshoeing/trails/swimming etc, have safe supervised direct play, lunch time, work on commands, etc. Check out the pics on the business page for details, and feel free to message me for more details. Bourne Vets . Bekesbourne. The best.
Marie S. replied:
We've used Maison Dieu in Northgate, they were OK. Barton was better but have found Bourne the best!
Gina P. replied:
also, i don't like to say anything negative about places, but i really didn't get a great impression from Barton. And pets at home back where we used to live was simply no where we would ever consider. Bourne Vets in Bekesbourne don't try to milk you for lots of money for things you probably don't need. they are trustworthy, reliable and love animals. they nurture a life long relationship and they are super lovely.
Carolyn F. replied:
We go to Barton Vets -not the cheapest, but they've always been brilliant (and there's parking)
Kate T. replied:
I use Maison Dieu in Northgate
Sarah L. replied:
Companion Care gets my vote. We've had 3 cats including one that was very poorly following a road accident. They were kind, compassionate, kept us informed all through Lola's recovery and had faith in her when I had given up all hope. Parking is great and they are open 7 days a week.
Nicole L. replied:
Bourne are good but very expensive and has no overnight care. Without overnight care your pet ends up going to vets now which is incredible expensive . Pays to do research of facilities and cost . Companion care also has no overnight care
Samantha M. replied:
'Vets now' is the out of hours service for the area and is based at Barton veterinary hospital in Canterbury. Always found them to be excellent too, over many years of pet ownership.
Katy S. replied:
Companion Care here too. Really happy with them as my dog is quite nervous, when she needed to be put under anesthetic, they gave her the injection and let her fall asleep on my lap and then I carried her into a kennel to have her op. My dog was stress free:)

Sophie M. replied:
It's a bit out of the way but Eagle Vets in Minster
Marie B. replied:
I use pets at home as they have long opening hours and are open at weekends. If you're in receipt of any benefits you may want to look into RSPCA vets in thanet or Lord whiskey vets. You'll need to bring evidence of benefit to those. X goodluck x
Samantha M. replied:
Also, I have been using Barton vets as my regular vet, since 1999. Would recommend them definitely
Amber H. replied:
Barton vets Canterbury uses vets now, but they work from the same building
Jo C. replied:
Barton vets have vets now based at theirs. They hand over to the emergency care every night and are really good. After issues with Pets st home I moved to them and would only use them in Canterbury now.
Helen G. replied:
Thanks for the replies. I'm currently with Barton vets but having a bit of a mare with paperwork and Vets Now and thought that it might be easier in future to have one vet doing all care to save future hassle. Kay, that's interesting, I'd wondered what happened when you used a vet at a different site. Our dog had to have emergency major surgery a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic that we didn't have to move him every day whilst he was goosed out on a morphine drip for 36 hours.
Any good recommended vets in Canterbury please (that don't charge the earth) want to take my German sheapard tomorrow to get his ears checked as they seem to be...
