I do not recommend Patrick Billes out of Snohomish, WA. He operates under a variety of aliases. I hired him to take my horse from WA state to a competition in Calgary, Alberta. Long story short, my horse ended up going on a 3,000 mile/5-day joy ride with him all the way down to Thermal, CA after her competition in Calgary. I had no idea this was the route he was taking and as far as geography goes, don't you have to pass through WA from Canada to get to CA? Why he couldn't have dropped her off at home FIRST is beyond me? He could have asked me to meet him somewhere as well so that she didn't have to endure added stress in a trailer for no reason. He claimed that there was a delay at the Canadian border, they were laying over and be home in a few days. Following day he posted pics of himself and girlfriend vacationing at a resort in southern CA. Pics had location and dates tagged on them. Where was my horse during all this????? In addition, the vet who issued the HC for my horse to go to Canada had no idea she was going to Calif either, thus forged documents were used or he didn't stop at Calif border. After this debacle I did find out that he is only licensed as intra-state/private and has no MC#. I did file a complaint with the DOT and BBB. To this day he has not apologized to me. His response on the BBB website to my complaint was that he "admits no wrong-doing". Thankfully my horse escaped unscathed. Through all this I have learned a lot about what to look for in a legal hauler. Blogs such as this are very helpful as well!

We just used Horse Desire Transport Service out of NC. Owned by Pete Hilton . I would recommend them in a heartbeat. It is hard to find an out of state shipper who cares about your horses as much as you do.

In Massachusetts I've used Brady Haulin, www.bradyhaulin.com twice to move my Arabian. I was so impressed with how professional they were. Tom Brady the owner came himself with their big rig which was the only vehicle at the time available. I couldn't believe how well he maneuvered that thing on a pretty narrow road. He was so great with my year old Arabian. I used him again when we changed stables. They do short, long, out of state, event, group, show and emergency moves. They can do a move with very short notice. I love them.

There is a site called Uship.com/they have persons who haul various items, livestock ect. I have used them before. You submit a job to haul whatever from pickup point to delivery point. You then start receiving bids from contractors for your job. At th at point you can view their credentials and contact them as well. Just a note; your first bids are always high and the longer the job is posted they come down. Anyway I had had a mare hauled from Georgia to South Texas this way and A woman from Florida shipped her for me. They arrange other pickups and drop offs enroute for the shipping to be more profitable and less expensive for you.
