Jaime Horvath Wood does a great job with my daughter's very thick, wavy, mid-back length hair.
Susan W. replied:
Scott Musgrave's work looks phenomenal and worth every single penny, but out of my price range for a cut. I've been working hard ( walking five miles everyday day with my 35 lb kid in a stroller up a ton of hills ) at getting in to better shape and see myself making his work a special reward for me reaching my goal. I think I may hang on to my current hair ( aka dead animal on my head ) a bit longer and visit Scott in a couple of months.

Dawn Young at Who Does Your Hair. She's a saint and a genius. I've been going to her for 8 years because no one else can handle my long, unruly, VERY thick curls like she can. Great cut every time, and I just get out of the shower and let mine do it's thing, as well. Don't waste your time with anyone else.
Mary H. replied:
Jaime Horvath Wood at Hair by Marshall & Company. Good with my thick hair, and also reasonably priced!

It's important to use certain products on your hair, and this is a great list to follow: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curltalk/general-discussion-about-curly-hair/147483-cg-friendly-product-list.html My recommendation would be to use a clarifying shampoo with sulfates in it (Suave makes one) to get rid of any build-up you may have and then use one of the deep conditioners on that list. I'm a big fan of the Shea Moisture products myself. You don't need to shampoo every time you wash your hair, I only shampoo maybe twice a month unless my hair is really sweaty or dirty, there is enough cleansing ingredients in the conditioners listed. I use the Tresemme naturals or Trader Joe's tea tree tingle conditioners for washing. Use an old tee shirt if you need to squeeze your hair out, not a towel b/c it will cause frizz. After hand squeezing my hair, I put in leave in conditioner (I use a shea moisture one), then I use Deva Curl Frizz-Free Volumizing Foam (amazing stuff and it really lasts, I've had a bottle for 3 months and still have 3/4 of a bottle left) starting at the top of the hair and smearing it down, then I use Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Souffle Gel to seal it up and scrunch my hair upside down with the old tee shirt and dry the roots with a diffuser and let it mostly air dry. It's hard to describe the process and easier if you see it LOL. The good thing about going to Scott Musgrave is he will personally help you decide what products would work best with your hair and also show you how to apply the products. He will also send you home with the directions and a spray bottle.
