Trish if u put a request in writing to him stating the amount of rent u pay and date you pay it, then list the repairs you need done, and give him a reasonable time frame to do them, let him know in the letter that you have sent a copy to a solicitor, citizens advice and local environmental health office as they govern private renting. if he doesn't act in this then u should take the matter further with environmental health, try www.gov.uk/privaterenting
