Looking for a good therapist. Benzos messed me up good. Looking for a therapist to help me. I've been off them for five years. Any recommendations?

No right or wrong answer to this because a therapist who's good for one might not be the right fit for another. That being said, you might consider giving Steve Sayre or his colleagues at Charlottesville Psychological Associates a call: http://www.cpatherapy.com. If you need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to drop me a line.

You can also try www.psychologytoday.com and use their search engine to find someone nearby who takes your insurance.

Are you looking for substance use counseling specifically? Re benzos, are you going to meetings? Are you looking for someone who takes insurance? If so, what insurance do you have?

Someone recently suggested Bob Rannigan as a really good, not so expensive therapist
desperately need a child therapist that accepts medical assistance before I totally screw this kid up. know of one?
Senna B. replied:
We go to Riverbend Counseling on Pantops, several take different medicaid, also try Blue Ridge Counseling on East Jefferson.
Senna B. replied:
If you email amandahenrylcsw@gmail.com she is one of the children's therapist at Riverbend, they do a weekly Wednesday meeting to match clients with therapist and if they don't have someone they will refer to another place like Blue Ridge. They used to all be in the Charlottesville League of Therapist's before it disbanded a few years back.
Does anyone in Cville know a great therapist that works with eating disorders for young adults? If you do- please message me. I am trying to help someone from out of...
Brooks B. replied:
Messaged you. Please contact me. Would love to help. I know Cville and some of the surrounding areas. National Eating Disorders Association has a helpline as well that can help find providers all over the country. They have wonderful resources as well on their webpage about how to be supportive.
