We also had our wedding at a wedding outside of cville. We used Shabeen, and they were great. Alex really worked to make a menu that met our diverse tastes, but also accommodation the people with more "traditional" preferences. It included them prepping and running the bar, which i highly recommend. We provided the liquor and they made mojitos and mint julups and a few other starter drinks that really helped with the wine bill. It isn't catering, but you can get charter buses through UVA if you have an association for very cheap. If i remember we got 4 round trips from cville to first colony (~45 min) for ~$400 which was well worth it because the cops like to stake out weddings.

I used Eric Stamer out of Staunton VA and he was amazing. He doesn't bullshit you and is completely upfront about everything. He will work with you to make any kind food, it can be as fancy or as simple as you want. He is reasonably priced, his staff is awesome, and the food was incredible. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a caterer for any event. (http://www.ericstamer.net)

My friend's Mom has her own catering business in Charlottesville. I have to be honest and say that I have never been to an event that she has catered professionally. However, I ALWAYS look forward to the times when she invites me to a dinner party. As a note, I mostly eat vegetarian, but I always make an exception for these parties : ) http://www.apimentocatering.com/

We're using Anderson Carriage House for our wedding catering (also being held at a winery!). Their rates are really reasonable, and their event coordinator, Lisa, has been an absolute godsend. She's basically a wedding planner without paying extra for all her help--she really knows all the ins and outs of the local wedding industry, and has done events at every venue in the area, so she knows all the potential pitfalls that we might experience, or things each venue will have covered for us. Most thankfully, she's a penny-pincher like I am, so she doesn't try to up sell us on anything, she completely respects our budget and priorities.

Alex Montiel owns two restaurants in the area--Cocina Del Sol and the Brasserie Montiel. He worked with my husband and I to craft the perfect menu to fit our budget, which was not very high! He was great! http://alexmontielcatering.com/

Give these guys a try: http://monticellowinetour.com/ I'm not sure what they cost or what the ride share deal is, but it's worth checking into. I know the owners, and they are good people.

Check out the Cville website listing: [http://www.visitcharlottesville.org/visitors/things-to-do/wine-tours/](http://www.visitcharlottesville.org/visitors/things-to-do/wine-tours/) Not sure if they'll combine groups to reduce cost, but it can't hurt to check them out. I didn't see anything specifically for brewery tours, but since a lot of the breweries outside of town are in wine country, I would expect that they'd make brewery stops as well. For the breweries in town (Three Notch'd, Champion, South Street, and C'ville-ian), you can cover those using public transportation...most of them using the free CAT trolley.

I don't know about services that do that, but have you thought about trying to offer some money to a college student to spend an afternoon being a DD for you guys around the area? Maybe try posting on Cragislist or in the UVA sub. Pick the places you want to go to, have said DD drive your car, you pay for gas. Just an idea.
