Ben Welch is the best. He charged $45/hour but well worth it. We discussed the job and gave him the house key. He knew we lived in CT so he could have ripped us off but he didn't. Two of my very good friends, Jane Austin(Ralph's daughter) and Susie Jones Sassa lived side by side at Flat Iron Camp(Austinville). If I'm not mistaken Susie's home later became home to Joan Evans Tucker DeHaven.

Back in the early 1950 s I rode the school bus on Route 41 from the Green Polly Restaurant past the Flat Iron Camp on to Cochranville. The Green Polly Restaurant was removed soon afterward.

My neighbor for 20 yrs (but no longer) here in Wagontown, was originally from Cochranville. Russell Gilbert is his cousin and Ralph Austin was his father. Ralph was a carpenter. I'm thinking he must be a son of Carp Austin?
