Michael Martell is right here in Chelmsford. He specializes in Elder care law, and helped us navigate some issues with our terminally ill mother. He is knowledgeable, thorough, flexible and above all, compassionate. I really felt that he treated my mother as though she were his own family member!

I had landlord issues and sued them for keeping my security deposit. But learned a lot! It is on landlord to provide a safe and warm place --- I had fireplace issues and a broken lock - security is another thing they just provide. U have a lot of rights! I filed in small claims and it was a pain but I stuck w it and got my money back. They were idiots til the very end. Even w a judgment they wouldn't pay when they were scheduled to and it took almost a year to get the full Amt back. Fight for ur rights!!! The only atty Ik in Chelmsford is Mike Bowser - maybe he can help u or get u to the right person.
Tim M. replied:
You can call the mass bar association "dial a lawyer" this wednesday (first wednesday of the month) and get a free consult. I did this once and didn't have to take it any further legally, because the landlord caved when I followed the advice I got. https://www.massbar.org/for-the-public/need-a-lawyer/dial-a-lawyer

I believe it is illegal for a landlord to not provide heat and hot water. They don't have to pay for it unless it is in your contract but they must provide it. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/renters-rights-book/chapter7-2.html
